This month's flower:
Aster (and Morning-Glory)!

Why the H*CK is most of September considered summer? I am freezing to death here!

Do you ever think about how much CO2 could be building up indoors and how that could be impairing your thinking? Well, if not, maybe you should!

Have you watched anything neat on youtube or similar sites lately? Don't just link it, mention why you like it!
This is a re-enactment of the American Psycho dubs man scene with Weird Al and Huey Lewis. There's some very nice attention to detail and the humor is great. Somehow it's 7 years old and I never saw it.

Something everyone should experience is to be in at least a semi-wooded area and to sit outside during a windy rainfall and feel refreshed from the soothing atmosphere. You don't need many trees, just enough for a good amount of rustling sound.
I wonder why it is that things like rain has such healing properties to the mind when it can be quite dangerous to us health-wise if we didn't have shelter.
R:16 / I:4
AC is an invention created to spread germ particles into the air and reduce the household oxygen percentages.
You will never succeed at life if you don't have your windows open and wearing light clothing

If we go to Mars, what people forget is that mars has very little in the way of nutrients in the soil or even nitrogen in the air. Almost every nutrient we need will have to come from earth in some way, even the nutrients that go into the plants that we grow there. What does this mean? It means that everything is going to have to be reused, everything. We can't afford to let bodies be put into the ground and waste 70kg of nutrients that we brought up from earth, humans will have to be eaten or else the colony won't be able to sustain itself. Everything has to be part of a sustainable cycle of nutrition.

The ones in Japan seem to sound slightly less annoying, but jesus christ there's at least one outside in a tree that will keep going for like 20 minutes at a time. So. Annoying.

Just came back from my summer exploring.

Today I visited my local graveyard. I was pretty surprised to see that it was built more like a tourist attraction with a section of houses that rich people built for their families, some nice ponds, nice gardens for the jewish people and in the back a nicely built section for WW2 veterans with an old 105mm howitzer on display.

Not sure if I'll visit it again any time soon though, maybe in a few decades.

Have you seen any cool wild animals lately? (if you're in a city, maybe there's a cool pigeon or rat or something?)

I saw five, yes FIVE of these guys flying around last week but forgot to make a thread about it. I can hear one of them outside right now and it's pretty nice. They're not as big as a hawk, but there's still a noticeable size difference between them and most birds. I once saw one catch a cicada in the air and land to eat it. Pretty cool.
R:18 / I:8
It's too hot... why can't it be cooler...

Have you been staying in shape this summer? Remember your body is always working for you even when you don't want to for it! Make sure to drink water and stay away from energy drinks or soda. Take it easy and move slow if need be! Your body will thank you, keep it up long enough and maybe someone special will attract to you...

This is definitely not good. There's going to be some severe damage from high winds and intense flooding. I read that this could be the strongest hurricane to hit the area in a century, so it's going to be a major test of any improvements made to infrastructure since Katrina.

Is it moral to kill if the lives lost result in the saving of a considerably larger number of others?

I thought about this after watching some videos on Chronic Wasting Disease, which is a transmissible neurodegenerative prion disease among deer. Principally, the main method of containment revolves around culling infected populations and maintaining surveillance on spread.

Could you foresee there ever being such an infectious disease among humans where the moral thing to do would be to kill infected people?

Always wondered if some of these dubious videos such as mouse trap videos and lock picking are for a demographic of psychopaths on YouTube who enjoy committing crimes.

Videos like this don't help anyone except criminals and the innocent minority of people who watch them to buy a good lock.
R:6 / I:1
So how are you enjoying the beach this summer?

I was looking at houses a while ago, and it seems like most houses that are self-listed on places like Zillow look exactly like this. How is it that people are completely unaware that listings like this won't draw much positive attention?

With all these crypto explosions and stock market bull runs, I always say to myself "Dang, sucks that I missed out, guess that was a once in a lifetime oppurtunity". However, as I look around more I see that these just keep on happening left and right, and it makes me wonder, do I just need to be more perceptive so that I can catch these trends early instead of accepting things as they go? It really seems like the key to getting rich is more about paying attention to trends more than getting lucky.

Space X's Rocket, Starship is going to have 33 engines in the first stage and 9 in the second stage producing around 80MN of thrust and could send 150t to Low Earth Orbit in theory(or so they claim) but the number of engines keeps changing(getting bigger). Saturn IV had 5 in the first stage, 5 in the second and 1 in the third producing a bit over 40MN of thrust and was capable of sending 140t to Low Earth Orbit. So for half the Thrust Saturn V could send 95% of the payload that Starship can to Low Earth Orbit, and Starship has never even proved that it can do this. The engines for Saturn IV were designed in the 50's too(but they use Kraut Space Magick I guess).

Much of this is due to how awful the design of Starship is, it's a meme con, the Hyperloop of space(or the sky so far) if you will. Additionally, I don't believe Starship will be capable of making the landing that it is planned for it. They have had trouble sending the Starship second stage only 50km and landing it, they only managed it once and for all the talk of testing reusability they never flew it again which shows what shape it was in, sending the whole thing to orbit and back and then sending it back up without severe repair is something completely different.

The Problem is the design, not only does the poor form and design of it mean that it spends more energy going up but it also means it will be under quite a bit of stress coming down. The Larger a surface is the more friction it creates and the more heat and pressure it will be subject too, the ship itself is not rigid or reinforced in anyway either while at the same time as being fat it is also long(and that length will create uneven pressure and friction), that is ALOT of stress for a hollow shell of thin steel strips to handle, the fuel within makes it little better than a time bomb as well, sure it will pressure the interior to degree but it will not be enough and a rupture may prove to be catastrophic. And that is before this hulk even hits the ground. This is a lot of money to spend on a meme.

What if instead of there being trillions of very tiny bugs it was like Pokemon and there was the same amount of mass, but spread across much larger bodies? In many ways it would be terrifying that they existed, but I bet we wouldn't been

I had the very smart idea of going on a hike with no food, water and a half dead phone battery also while only having had 4 hours sleep and alone. I didn't know the trail well at all and got lost for over 5 hours, it's a good thing I work well under pressure and know basic survival.
Never be over-confident in your abilities when dealing with nature or Gaia will make you regret it until your humble again...
Also it's true that your senses spike when under adrenaline I heard sounds I didn't pick up on when I wasn't lost and saw creatures at a further distance.
R:14 / I:2
Ouch, is this true? This is on kemomo party

Finally, this isn't in development hell. While the trailer for this doesn't look like anything special, the brain behind it is the same that brought forwards the widely acclaimed (by critics and imageboards) Bladerunner 2049, and he's been stated in the past as being a fan of the Dune series. I'm not sure if kissu's ever read the books, but they were really intriguing and fun reads, and I'm excited to see a (proper) adaptation of the series.
R:3 / I:2
The summer solstice is here! The longest day of the year! That means it's after this it's finally going to start getting dark again.
R:12 / I:4

So with the 20X series being made obsolete not even a year after its introduction, how long will it be until the 30X series sees it's successor...

A late summer morning, wrapped up in a dream

Chapter 1: Turn of a new day
Dead at night is when I woke up.
It was as the clock stroke 12, the turning of a new day, my wake came about. Woken up from yet another bad dream, I stepped to the kitchen to freshen up and grab a bite.
I warmed up in a pan some of yesterday's leftover ground beef, the crispyness of the pan recooking made it pretty delicious.
I mostly watched youtube, chatted, and try to take my mind off the dreams and the drowsieness.
My windows, now closed for over a day since a heatwave left the apartment hot and filled with CO2. After some more relaxation, I fell asleep again.

>Here, I report active escape of the aquatic beetle Regimbartia attenuata (Coleoptera: Hydrophilidae) from the vents of five frog species via the digestive tract. Although adult beetles were easily eaten by frogs, 90% of swallowed beetles were excreted within 6 h (0.1–6.0 h) after being eaten and, surprisingly, were still alive. When beetle legs were experimentally fixed with wax, all of the treated beetles were killed in the frogs’ digestive system and finally excreted >24 h (38.3–150.3 h) after consumption. Therefore, swallowed beetles likely used their legs to move through the digestive tract toward the frog vent, hastening their escape. This study is the first to document active prey escape from the vent of a predator and to show that prey may promote predator defecation to hasten escape from inside the predator’s body.

Console players are big cheaters

The "good" players use thirdparty hardware to give themselves a competitive edge in multiplayer video games.

This means they can achieve no recoil and abuse aim asisst to give themselves aimbot. And the worst thing is its undetectable and all console tubers and streamers use them which tricks gullible morons.
