They're making a new season of the dumbpire and smoking christmas cake anime.
They're making a new season of the dumbpire and smoking christmas cake anime.
Very nice! One of the modern /qa/ classics if I do say so much. Even if the story becomes dumb if it keeps the fantastic atmosphere it will still be worth a watch. Such a fantastic use of colors and highlights and all that other stylish stuff to make the night look so vibrant.
I wasn't a fan of it panning to other characters like >>2317, but I think that's what people were talking about so... oh well. It will probably still look nice.
Alright, but when are they making Mieruko-chan S2? I need it. Also Youjo Senki S2 is still in the works as well... When are any of these sequels actually going to come out...
what romance anime should i watch next /qa/?
i loved quintessential quintuplets recently.
Kaichou wa Maid-sama! It's funny and makes my heart flutter.
My Little Monster is also good.

>romance is filled with an abundance of lazy cliche writing
I like this.

Actually, worst girl was helpfully pointed out to us by the author when he made her win.
It used to come up a lot more when an anime came out, whether anime should try to be more faithful to the source material when adapting even if they weren't going to cover the rest of the story of a manga. I think back then I was more partial towards the faithful camp, because I had more hope for sequels to good series back then that'd continue the series towards its more intended end.
Now though, that wish has been more or less fulfilled with most adaptations sticking close to the source material whether they end on a more conclusive note or not. But at times it feels like that was a monkey paw of sorts. Since now series simply last forever, and there's an infinite amount of different LN/Manga adaptations flowing out the gates each season with zero hope of getting a sequel. They'll always end feeling half-finished (because they are) and plenty of buildup there could be that's packed into the adaptation that has no relevance til later arcs is also left untouched. This leading to the entire anime somewhat suffering for it because it feels more like you wasted your time watching a "Read more by buying the source!" ad than anything. And honestly, when it comes to what studios are adapting nowadays, I feel like scriptwriters in these anime studios could do a far better job with the source material given to them than the majority of LN authors could do with their work.
¥ let's take all the bad parts of Pikmin 3
¥ then take all the bad parts of Pikmin 2
¥ replace all the good parts with pointless RPG elements and constant overly long dialogue
¥ and stick it all together with a completely nonsensical story
¥ oh, and make sure to include a post-game mode that shows what the game could have been with good design decisions
¥ but make sure to ruin that too a few days in
What were they thinking? It's like they couldn't figure out how to make a full-length game so they just split into five different teams and stuck all the resulting minigames together to pad things out. It's super frustrating because the core gameplay is still fun and they clearly proved they could have made a much better game, but they just didn't and covered all the good stuff in as much tedium and distraction as possible.
The RPG-ification of gameplay elements is really weird, even though I like RPGs. I guess it's an easy way to pad out a game, and they even call it stuff like "gamification" now when they apply it to other things.

I think it's because it's something you can add to make it seem like there's more to any game and it gives a sense of progression, but it seems like it takes away more than it adds. Half the upgrades in this game are completely pointless, like a bunch of HP increases and making the stupid dog marginally better at things he's never going to be doing, a few are critical to the core gameplay and make the first bit of the game feel really awkward until you can get them, and then the rest are OP shit that negates the strategy and technique you spent the earlier bits learning. Maybe they want to have that dopamine hit from a big "side quest complete" and need a spendable resource to enable that, but when the gameplay itself is fun you don't need to encourage players to interact
Mai-Hime is one of the rare anime in which it kept its original OP and ED throughout the whole thing, but actually would've benefited from having a 2nd set for the tonal shift in the 2nd half.
I'm sure someone is going to immediately post a counterexample for some anime out there that struggles with its art/animation yet still tell a captivating story. It's just, despite the massive amount of anime I've seen I don't think there's ever really been a case where something without any sort of visual flair has ever wormed its way into my long-term memory or had any impact. And not visual flair necessarily in the sense of looking closer to Ghibli levels of blow your mind crazy animation, but any sort of work where you can feel a sort of personal touch from the creators, whether it be the animators or the director. It feels like it's almost a set in stone rule that average animation begets average quality at best. While good animation can elevate a poorer story. Like with Zenshuu this season, I don't really care for the story all that much but I'll still watch it because it looks nice and there's plenty of older OVAs too for which the stories are a complete mess but enthrall you enough with their presentation that you keep watching anyways.
With that said I really wanted to like Kuroiwa because it's got the kind of ecchi setups I always long for and a bit above generic cardboard cutout MCs. However, it just looks so bland everywhere. For all that it tries in its first episode meant to hook you, it can't muster enough to excite me more in its entire runtime than a single segment from a Highschool DxD ED. I just end up feeling more sad and disappointed in the end that I wasn't able to like it more and the wasted potential that could have been were it handled by a better
>>1936
I don't think I made any sweeping generalizations, though. I brought up subjectivity just because you simply seemed to be unable to think that a shows quality might increase with hot men. People judge shows with different criteria; mecha otaku will obsess over the quality of the mechs, while a fujoshi will obsess over the male character's pairings.
Your original comment was about "overvaluing" something; I just pointed out that what we value is rather arbitrary.
And I kind of disagree with your conclusion: visual style can be substance (for example, redline, angels egg). Could Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt for example stand on its witty writing alone? Its visuals are an inseparable part of its substance
>>1940
I really am trying hard to like it, but it just looks so bland...
>>1939
The entire thread is based around the assertion that "style" is more important than "substance" in anime, and OP has clarified that "style" refers to the visuals. The entire thread and discussion becomes pointless if you're just going to go "well, it's all subjective anyway." You're either conceding the argument in the sorest of ways or jumping in the middle of a discussion you have no intention of engaging with just to deny its foundational assumptions.
>>1940
I wanted to, but it's just a parade of misunderstanding tropes for setting up underwhelming ecchi.

What would /qa/ want to see in a sequel to brown bricks?
I don't really know. A Minecraft 2 seems pointless. He is talking about a spiritual successor so there is more room for different things. But even then, people have already built on what he did, they have already made games following in his footsteps and he would just be another one doing that.

>I liked Terraria
Every time someone mentions this game I can't help but think about SMBX. It's surreal a guy who made a fun mario fun game suddenly makes a billion dollar game. He'll always just be Redigit to me, the guy who had a fun mario site with mario flash games who one day released his own mario game.
For anyone looking to jump on the Fate/ train for the new anime, here's a quick guide of what you probably want to go through. I'm also going to assume you're committed to this enough to dive head-in to the VN. If you're looking to test the waters first, you can try out the ufotable anime and then come back, there will be some spoilers you get from doing this but you probably already know most of them from hanging around otaku circles. Also, my knowledge isn't perfect so I may be missing some things.
Step 1: Read the VN
Download the Mirror Moon TL of the enhanced Realta Nua version with the ero scenes from the original game patched back in. The TL isn't perfect, or even really that good, but it's what everyone you talk to will be quoting and the official TLs for Fate have proven far worse in the past. Play through all three routes in order, try to get all the bad ends, but make sure you get Mind of Steel and Sparks Liner High as those "bad ends" are on par with actual alternate endings.
Adaptations: The stay night route technically has anime and manga adaptations, but both do the old VN adaptation thing of mashing routes together and are generally low quality in terms of art and animation.
The UBW route has an awful movie adaptation and a quite good TV anime. It does favor style over accuracy to the lore, which upsets some autists, but it's overall a solid adaptation and the only good way to see these characters in motion. There's also a manga, but it's pretty new.
The HF route has a movie trilogy which looks pretty, but rushes the plot way too much,
i don't know if the others are bad because I've only tried the ufotable ones and I didn't feel like the expanded franchise was good so I never tried. Tsukihime bored me in the prologue chapters. Also you didn't mention Kara no Kyoukai which, while is an alternative tsukihime, does expand upon how the human magic system works
>>1902
Fate/stay in the kitchen is the closest thing we have to the HA day sections.
Prisma Illya is the closest thing we have to the HA night sections.
The only reason I added Tsukihime to the list is because Assassin's master is a dead apostle and those don't really come up anywhere else in Fate. I wouldn't be surprised if stuff from other Nasuverse works showed up at some point later, but this is already a lot to work through.
My interest with Nasuverse is only via Melty, but the Kara no Kyokai movies were good.
The new league starts in a few hours so I thought I'd advertise the /qa/ mansion guild here in case anyone wants to play it. We're around 6-7 right now, but I have enough guild slots so that we can accommodate pretty much the whole /jp/ spinoff population that still plays games (upper limit of 30-ish if I'm assuming generously). The bulk of us are going to be playing on softcore-ruthless so I'd recommend doing that too if you want to reap the benefits of a shared use stash. But, anyone that just wants a bunch of free space can join to use it in normal/hc too. We have a good deal of space https://files.catbox.m
So if you're interested post your userid or character name ITT if you want me to invite you, we're fine with anyone that's not a complete subhuman.
Are there any games that can properly depict war in its extremely stressful and horrific light? Or will we only really be able to to get that sort of experience made eventually through VR? I feel like, thinking about the potential of AI, this could be one of the few genres that AI would be almost necessary to properly make a less gamey more overbearing experience.
I'm going to reread Higurashi from the beginning after completing 7/8 of the original arcs then stopping several years ago - I don't remember why. However the console arcs seem complicated and I'm unsure of the order in which I should read them. Going with how the series was originally released, I feel I should read the original 8, then Rei, then the console arcs in chronological order.
Please, give me your advice.
>>1247
Thank you, I suppose that makes sense. I think I'm just going to do the release order more or less; I read a very brief synopsis of the console arcs and it sounds like they are intended to be read after you've completed the main story. I read the first little part of Matsuribayashi up to and including some of the puzzles and just finished rereading Onikakushi; it's funny what I notice now with that extra knowledge compared to before, and I think I'm starting to get why the series is so well spoken of apart from just the story being engaging.
>>1248
My last saves in Minagoroshi were from around this time 3 years ago, so I don't remember too well. I didn't start Matsuribayashi after that, only starting it a few days ago. I have something of a problem where, when
Anyone interested in a match of Advance Wars DoR? I used to play it a lot when I was a kid and apparently there's a browser version of it now.

I made a lobby with the name qa and password set to 1123. I'll wait for a bit to see if someone joins. You may need to register an account but you don't need to link an email.
i wasted money on a missile system on the far left corner because i thought i could bait your copter into picking off the 1hp tank/infantry trying to take the city but the copter went north and my nearest anti air was sitting on the factory too far away im always one step behind
>>1722
You should have been able kill the 8 infantry with the AA and then used the tank to cripple the bike. The copter was just there to neuter the md tank after you had to waste its turn attacking infantry again.
>>1724
yes, but no idea how to use it
STALKER 2 is out now! Has /qa/ played the previous games? Are you going to play this one? Initial reviews seem very positive.
https://store.steampowered
I expected jank, but Stalker 2 is practically unplayable and a-life, the main selling point of the game to me, seems to be severely gimped.
they also switched to UE5 instead of their in-house jank engine and aren't a small indie dev anymore so i expected more quality control.
I'll wait for a year or so until it is playable i guess
It's funny how Oshi no Ko seems to have forgotten that Ruby existed, which is kind of good. But, I feel like Kana isn't getting enough focus. I think it's obvious to everyone that she's the best character.
When Kana isn't on screen the other characters should say "Hey, where's Kana?"
Isn't it nice when you're browsing kissu and then you see Kana on the front page?
