Hard disagree. A tardtrarian on 4chan who hates le popular thing isn't doing so because it benefits him financially, on the contrary, it isolates him from anything that'd be exploitable. The examples of your video are all part of mass culture, creating easily digestible content optimized to be as viral as possible. The contrarian pushes back against this, in an incoherent and shortsighted manner, which amounts more to status and self-identity than anything monetary. They're hipsters.
