I used to be spiritual, very much into various religions, read countless books. But not unlike Faust, I could not have my questions answered there, nor find any true meaning, so I made a deal with a devil. Through heroic dosages of hallucinogenic substances, done almost every day for several years, I have seen things that you won't find described even in the most fucked up holy book, because human language can't grasp such concepts without simplifying them.
But each and every time I had to come back to the sober world, and as I sobered up, I forgot the meaning of these deep insights, until it was the time to redose again and remember.

Brain damage is one of the consequences of this pursuit of meaning in my meaningless existence, a consequence I remember every day that I will have to live in forever.
Just because I was too weak willed to live for myself and enjoy my lifetime, I wanted some outside authority like God or gods to validate me. Not unlike how a toddler perceives a daddy or a mommy (some people remain toddler in this aspect whole their life, that's how NPD and BPD are created).

I look down upon such weakness now. I haven't done any hallucinogenics or other drugs in years, will never do again. I also look down at people who seek to find some answers or meaning through non-drug related spirituality or religion, these poor gullible fools are wasting their time and more often then not getting exploited and scammed by people who don't have such sentiments(do you really think pedophile priests believe in God?).

I don't think evangelicalism in its current form dates back that long, does it? I can agree that religion probably won't die out and I don't think that atheism will ever take over because most people need that guiding light or hope for the afterlife. But the hardcore stuff of today which seems to at times contradict what should be Christ's teachings doesn't seem long for the world if the basis for it is getting angry at society.
