No.144551
A few months ago I was talking about altchans on /a/ and realized a big stumbling block for people is that the lists of sites that get posted around contain too many sites with not enough details and people tend to give up after the fifth or sixth utterly dead/meme shitposting site they click through. I'm hitting myself for being lazy and not making a better guide before this, but with 4chan still down I imagine it would still be good to have something easy to pass around to help the flood of refugees as we approach the weekend.
I tried to cover the issues I've seen people be most interested in across the various 4chan down threads. Activity, especially in regards to specific hobbies, is probably the biggest, but a familiar UI, easy browsing of different boards/sites, and file support have all come up. I focused mostly on relevant topics to the /a/jp/ sphere here since that's what I'm more familiar with, but I'm open to suggestions on what to put in here. I think zzz, 8, 7, and sushi could fit on here too for vidya and broader topic selections. Please correct me if anything is wrong, a fair bit has to be derived from cursory inspection.
Regarding activity levels, I'm imagining 4chan as the 10/10 max level for everything so it's kind of a log scale so everything else isn't all a 1 in comparison. Basically, green means there's fresh discussion of a topic multiple times a day, yellow means once every day or three something gets kicked up about it, and red means it still lacks the critical mass to maintain regular discussion.

>>144566As far as I can tell it's for Urusai only so it's not what someone looking for "anime discussion" is going to want. I don't think I saw any manga threads on the other anime boards, but it does make sense that's where they technically go.
>>144567>It feeds into the "it's too slow, I'm not going to post there" vicious circle. It is a really important factor. Hearing "this site has a /v/ board" then going there and finding the last post was three weeks ago is what really turns people off altchans. I will grant that the coloring could be better since some people genuinely prefer smaller communities. I also don't like marking some things like not having user-boards as red when I think that's a good thing, I just couldn't think of a better color and making everything white is
boring.
Maybe reversing it and doing a speedometer reaching for blazing fast gaymer red could work. Would need better gradients to look good though.
>>144584Only like two people on the planet understand how to do this wizardry and it has no impact on the day-to-day posting here, but I guess you can revel in your technical superiority.

No.147017
Let me spin you a story about Heyuri...
It was started a while ago... a long time ago..
The then admin got an influx of traffic and couldn't handle it. So he partnered with a guy who would later go on to be influential on the soyjak ring.
The long story short is that after some time, this guy... who we wordfilter to " that guy " because he shilled himself so hard with sockpuppets in the happenings thread... doxxed him and his family telling him to quit. And he eventually did and handed it over to his cabal. Well they tried to push the site as the next new thing for oldfags and it never really took off.
There's not much more to the story than that. It's a tryhard project that killed the original admin through harrassment.
They actually did it to a few other sites too that I forget about, but Heyuri was the only one they really managed to take over through 'violence'
No.147018
It's a bit of a conspiracy that this guy aka "that guy" used his own possy to cause heyuri to require more staff so that they could work their way in and take it over... but I'm not a conspiracy theorist
