I guess I forgot to mention it outside of posting images in other threads, but Mono is really good. It's from the Yuru Camp creator and the characters and mood really fits that pattern. Instead of a focus on camping it's about photography.
The first episode was a really strong showing with great faces and a relaxing atmosphere. A strong show in a season of strong shows!

I don't watch too many seasonal shows but I like photography and I enjoyed Yuru Camp so I'll give it a try, thank you.

This was pretty much made for you then. I wouldn't expect it to go into elaborate detail about camera tech, but it seems strong enough to move the story forward alongside regular cute girl antics.

Chihiro, why the heck are you doing 'Your Forma' in such a strong season? Also doing Rock wa Lady!
Kaleido is doing Summer Pockets and Gundam, which is great. Commie doing Lazarus. Some 4/a/ people are (were???) doing the Orchestra show, and of course Piyoko is bringing me my much-needed AiPri. There's some other shows I'm not watching and this website isn't magically updated with everything.
Decent enough season for fansubs.

I still have to do a lot of sieve. This list will go down once every show is in ep3. That's when I can fully decide.

Seems like a great list so far. But... no Uma Musume? The autism horse is quite the main character.
I feel like Bye Bye Earth is greatly underappreciated, or maybe it's just too weird and ridiculous to grab people.

Yeah, it always looks like that till I start selecting and dropping titles after episode 3.
>no Uma Musume?
>I feel like Bye Bye Earth is greatly underappreciated
I didn't put them in the list or other series since I still have to watch S1 of them first. I will eventually. They are in my backlog for now, but I want to watch both of them.

I wouldn't worry about needing to watch Uma Musume stuff. It's quite standalone as it's in a far off school with a new roster of characters that are completely unrelated to anyone else. I'd expect a cameo here or there, but I doubt anything significant.
You already have a lot on your plate, though, so maybe it's best to save it for later.

Didn't feel attracted to it, I don't like remakes too much. I have been avoiding Ranma 1/2 too for now, and I used to love that serie. Maybe in the future I will watch both of them.

Really like the new character in mono, Shikishima. A strong collection of autismo this season! Maybe that's why its so good.

File:[ASW] Sousou no Frieren - ….jpg (1.04 MB,1920x1080)

I finally finished Frieren but probably need to go back and watch the first half of it as I initially watched it while travelling. I'm glad that something of this quality has achieved such popularity above most isekai or other flavour of the month; I really enjoy a classic fantasy world that doesn't feature a power fantasy or other bells and whistles. Now I only wish it existed as an MMO setting.

I've also found lately that whenever I watch something that is somewhat serious I find myself at least misty eyed at some point in each episode. I'm not sure if I just happen to be viewing more stuff that produces an emotional reaction - or why that happens - or if I've become most wistful so the threshold for such a reaction is lower.

 No.148651

>>148615
The fact that it's a one to one recreation of another show makes the opening sequence so much better.

Frieren was fantastic, yeah. I liked the relaxing moments more than the action stuff, it did a good job with its atmosphere and theme. The action stuff wasn't bad, and maybe that's how it managed to become so popular, but just the thing about the journey and death and such was nice.
I also liked it when Fern ate or pouted. Very good.

 No.148764

>>148654
I think what gave Freiren so much appeal was it didn't do just slice of life or action. The fights that they did have were well done and not some tacked on deal, and the slice of life was engaging and wasn't the whole show. The characters being both expressive and full of character makes both halves actually work. Then you wrap it all up in a nice bow with a good theme and narrative. Yeah, it's not some isekai shounen schlock, and it's not cute girls doing cute things, but if you like either of those then you'll still find great enjoyment in it. And Fern, Fern was also really cute and had fantastic character development over her life.

 No.149242

>>148634
I'll admit Frieren loses me a bit with some of the worldbuilding feeling a little too lazy at times, but I get that part of the appeal is in it being a relatively traditional sort of fantasy. Fern is a fatty, by the way.

 No.149302

>>148654
>I also liked it when Fern ate or pouted. Very good.
So the entire series? I thought the fight scenes were pretty but also appriciated how they don't drag on and on.
>>148764
It just seems like a production that isn't doing anything innovative or groundbreaking, just the fundamentals really well. I like how characterization is largely done through flashbacks and is drip fed throughout the series; I hope they expand on the backgrounds of the examinees introduced towards the end this way, they did it a little with Ubel. I should probably read it too.
