last years orin:

https://files.catbox.moe/4nkpgo.pngBasically if you want to get good at drawing, you have to almost draw everyday, it helps you see the mistakes in your process, play around with your tools until you find methods that work for you, and push your boundaries when you see an opportunity to.

>>92537For me my biggest issue is that I went and got a Wacom pad without a screen because I heard it was the best for actually drawing. But it's been more a case of trying to learn drawing and the pad at the same time which really disheartens me whenever I pick it up and I don't want to replace the pad because I spent a pretty penny on it.
No.92629
>>92620I used to use those but it proves to be more trouble since you have to compensate for the lack of direct visual feedback of your handstrokes. I got a wacom one recently and it feels way better to use than the basic wacom I bought years ago.

>>92552Always love the occasional bone you throw towards Misumaru lovers.
Also balls.>>92596On the fence over whether or not I should share my own multiOrin here as well but that's some good advice and it's definitely obvious that it's paid off quite nicely on your end. Sometimes I envy the time you seem to have towards pouring yourself into these works but it's mostly just cool seeing the progress you've continued to make anyways.
>>92620>it's been more a case of trying to learn drawing and the pad at the same time which really disheartens me whenever I pick it upThis was a problem I really started running into after I got my first dinky little screenless wacom tablet years back and my ambitions started picking up again. It doesn't make progress impossible but it's definitely a pretty steep learning curve if you're used to that immediate visual feedback.
Now I have a quality Gaomon tablet though so those days are fortunately well behind me.
>>92631>Is it more difficult or easier than digital stuff? Not that artist but, coming from someone who did traditional for years before anything digital, I'd say it's almost like playing the same ballgame but on a completely different field. Digital has great flexibility and potential for spontaneity but may lack the kind of intricate fine-tuning only available through physical. Physical works can be very satisfying but it's a far more meticulous process, especially for those that would already be used to having Ctrl+Z at their constant disposal. Both have their eases and difficulties but I wouldn't say one is wholly more challenging than the other after you've been at it for long enough. I guess physical would be the harder route for a lot of people these days anyways though, here's a piece I did last year that did still take a good few days of careful work just as an example but ultimately isn't anything of a 'lower' quality compared to the things I tend to do digitally.
No.92643
>>92631I do the make up very subtle since I have a history of trying to make them look good, but they end up having clown makeup instead. Its something I try to do in as many works as I can permitting. Most of the people I talk to love it.
>>92639Were you the one who posted in the Orin thread before 4/jp/ died? It was pretty good but the nips looked weird on the last panel, the tips just seemed off to me
No.92646
>>92643Yeah that was me, I could've done better with the last panel in hindsight but I tend to draw that sort of stuff once in a blue moon so pretty good is still something I can be happy with. Wanted to add a bit more definition to 'em but I think I was a little scared of going beyond the panel lol.
You have indeed been getting a lot better with the makeup when you decide to do it btw, the subtlety with it is quite nice as someone who tends to skim over those details in my own process.

Something I made for a Ran thread a while back to test the waters on a drawing tablet. Pen sensitivity was something I didn't have a good grasp for at the time so it looks like hell, but it's one of the first drawings I made for others so it's a special one for me. I saw it being reposted elsewhere so at least one person liked it, that's good enough for me.
>>92683I like the way you do lighting and making it contrast.
>I wish there was a /d/ board so I can dump my worst stuff thereThere is /megu/ which serves a bit like that, there's already a futa and fat thread there; and, it's a sEcReT!! board so that kind of stuff is to be expected when you go there. It also wouldn't be the first time someone made a thread to dump their stuff in like

How are you guys coloring your linework? I'm painting on a layer under the lines and coloring the edges and using fill to finish the section. Is there a better way to do this, I might just lack practice but it's really time consuming.

>>92938use the magic wand tool to select the outside boundaries of your line art, the places you plan to not color, then invert the selection, color in the sections you want with the base color, then the colors in the individual sections on top. My strategy is to fill the whole character body with their planned skin tone, deselect the various spots that are skin tone or already colored, until I am down to the last colors in certain areas left.
