It's basically peak Yuasa, and deserves all the praise it gets.

By the way, it's a timeloop, and since the first few episodes elaborate on the same core it remains understandable even if you arrive a bit late.

Uhh.... well, that was something. These surreal shows really fly over my head because I struggle to pay attention to the talking and talking and more talking. I understand why someone said it was different from Monogatari in that it showed things instead of just relying on plot dumps of text, although it did have a lot of talking.
I feel like I can't judge stuff like this because my brain isn't wired to enjoy them. Some nice visuals, I guess.

Nekone is a good girl! She's got a prickly shell to her, but she's very sweet and kind and smart!

Nekone is a very nice girl! Very strong for her young age! (and I seem to have derailed the thread with my choice of image, but I regret nothing!)

The last couple episodes are extremely narration-heavy, that much is very true, although if you look at, say, episode 3, there's a lot of events taking place that in Monogatari would've been spread out across three episodes or more:
¥joining the bike club
¥sucking at it
¥deciding to work for a better bike
¥purchasing it
¥getting it stolen
¥failing at the race
¥being inducted into the birdman club
¥training montage
¥getting rejected
¥final encounter with the thieves
And several other smaller things sprinkled along. Monogatari is way, WAY slower than this. Across episodes 1 through 9 the longest stretches of dialogue are only a couple minutes long at most, like the one which I pointed out as one of the most important scenes out there:

But it doesn't stop to explain to you that Higuchi's desire to travel is inspired by his reading of Verne and the pins he placed on his globe while going through it, that's left up to the audience. That the castella is a symbol of loneliness is only very briefly said in passing and too early to understand its meaning. What the show does focus on and dedicate a fair amount of time to is Watashi's (yes, that's his name) comically biased inner monologue, and I'm grateful that they made it so blazingly fast. Imagine how insanely worse the pacing would be if they slowed that down. And compared to SZS, where the characters spend a lot of time voicing their thoughts on the current topic (not a criticism, mind you), Tatami is much more made up of goings-on with or without narration (which I think serves a nice dual purpose in moving things along more quickly while also showcasing Watashi's mental state).

I enjoy its speed a lot, and sometimes I spontaneously rewatch some of its episodes simply because they're quite fun, and forever one of my favorites.

Yeah, I could see why people would like it. I think it might be one of those things that's extra punishing to marathon since I start to have trouble paying attention to the symbolism stuff you mentioned.

They cameo'd this in one of the episodes. It's like a summary movie of the series but not

Compared to what usually gets talked about as 2deep4u stories, Tatami is actually very straightforward. The core message is to not let harmful fantasies distract you from what's next to you, and to go and do the thing. Watashi generally errs not because he's aiming too high, Ozu aims even higher and is successful nonetheless, but because he's utterly incomptent at adapting to his situation. Again in episode 3: first instead of training to become fit he spends two years investing into the most expensive bike available knowing that there's thieves abound, and after losing it and being recruited for being a failure suddenly he gains the motivation to work out, ruining his opportunity. It's not that buying a fancy bike or getting swole are bad things to do, it's that he doesn't understand the situation he's in and his delusions keep getting the better of him.

Yeah, it appears as a book in-universe. I'm gonna watch it tomorrow, just finished Ping Pong and will suya~.

Events in Monogatari take more time because there are a lot more characters to introduce and develop. The events of Tatami get rushed through because the nuance of them isn't really important at all and most episodes start with getting Watashi to the same miserable point as every other episode, just in a slightly different way. All of the other important pieces are relatively static so there's not much need to spend time on them past the fast-forward-mode setup, it would just get in the way of showing Watashi's endless fuckups.
