I'm thinking about purchasing an adspace on 4chan now that it's back so we can make it clear alternatives exist and there are greener pastures like our beloved Kissu.
I just need the right banner, was thinking about a desktop header for all japanese-related boards. I just need a good banner, needs to be 728x90. I could make one myself but I'm not super good at Photoshop.

You should target specific boards, like /jp/, /a/, /m/, /c/, maybe a few more.

Wow, that's nice of you. Hmm... this is probably something we need community input on for sure.
Normally I'd say we need some time to further assimilate current people, but it seems like the new posters overwhelmingly mesh very well with kissu.

/jp/ and /a/ were my obvious choices but I thought about a broader aproach.

Going to be the contrarian and say that I don't think this is a good idea. The ones who found kissu were good posters looking for an alternative. The ad might bring in a whole hoard of unwanteds here.

Like /diy/, /sci/, /lit/, /p/, /po/, /out/, /ck/, /fa/, maybe /k/?

Yeah, that's understandable. I don't really know how these 4chan ads work. A controlled, slow growth has been how we've managed until now. We've weathered and benefited greatly from the 4chan influx, but I see value in stopping to take a breather.

No, I meant the whole japanese centric section.
>>13555
I understand your concern. My idea was to take advantage of 4chan coming back since we don't know if it will stay alive longer because the whole sharty is trying to sabotage them again. So this might be our last chance to be seen.
However, I won't keep going forward with it if the community doesn't see it necessary.

It would greatly complicate the process of making the ad but you could have something more general purpose, like "There's other options" and link to an infograph for kissu and kissu friends
That way the ad is more clearly showing people there's alternatives rather than shilling a specific website (which I know is not necessarily what you're trying to accomplish)
I will say you should be careful, both with your entered payment details to 4chan and getting your money's worth (it's possible your ad might be put up mere hours before they get hacked again at this rate)

only retards still use 4chan, and only the dumbest among them don't block ads

That's a bit mean. There's still lots of good people on 4chan. The adblocking thing may be true, though.

A lot of people still don't know where to go. As many previously noted, some of us just hide in our generals and ignore shitstorm outside.

I've avoided talking about the place outside of our sister linked website wapchan during the downtime even for lost souls of which I saw a couple even in unlikely places like the archives. Some effects of having 4chan refugees flood places especially the larger alts has started to affect some of the boards even though they used to not be used. I rather not have that for places like this.

 No.13565

I'd advise against it. Any user worth their salt will have adblock, and so that money is going down the drain advertising to people who shouldn't be browsing the internet and hack tourists, and the aforementioned risk of another hack making it all in vain. And maybe I'm a bit snobby, but I don't think it's a good image having our names up there with the 4chan dating app, cryptocurrency, and chinese AI gf services.
A better one, but probably not advisable, is using 4chanx in the same way it was advertising kissu on 4/qa/, we know that works but it's up to the maintainer, choice of board to show it on, and whatever drama you'd be inviting along with.

Also we have some of these seasonal banners.

We would have to resize it(AI resize?) them to the propper dimensions.

 No.13570

Hmmm. Nvm you said 728x90 so we'd either blackbar them or come up with something new that's good

Cut the elitism out of your life. There's a huge chasm between alts and 4chan in regards to casual users who just post freely and our or others "there is only one true type of poster".
We can afford to narrow it a little.

File:Banner 59.png (72.94 KB,728x90)

Not to praise my own work too hard, but I think a banner AD like this one would be good. It pretty clearly shows the URL and conveys the theme of website.

>blackbar
Not really an issue since PNGs & GIFs have transparency.

I gotta agree since the only people who will see it are idiots who don't use an adblocker on 4chan. Also, I'd rather just post about it than give Hiro more shekels.

 No.13582

Understandably you don't want to deal with people who are disruptive, but you're discounting people based on their technical experience. And if that's the case who even do you want to discuss things with? Do you just have a set of qualities you don't like in people with nothing else?

A site needs people otherwise it gets boring and I personally will just go back to /chat/. It's not even worth it for me to even try to run this place if it doesn't have people in it.

 No.13583

>>13582
My concern is that you'd be throwing Hiro your money for nothing. The only people who don't block ads on 4chan are those who are either extremely dedicated to the site or are very casual users checking out the memes. The primary demographic for such an ad would be users discontent with 4chan and that audience will never see a 4chan ad.

Now that I've got a little more time on my hands, I decided to check out all the other altchans I still had open from all those days ago and it turns out that the vast majority of them isn't even worth monitoring "just in case". As always, the problem is either namefag circlejerks, or the moderation being too lenient. Having been freshly reminded of this, I am now more open to the idea of at the very least giving options like adspaces a try.

I'm still not convinced it would be worth the money, primarily because - as anons have already stated - I have trouble imagining people without an adblocker would be interested in sites like Kissu, but perhaps one could test out the cheapest available option and we check back with Number Nigger™ to see if it made any difference?

I don’t have Adblock enabled on 4chan because I wanted to see what adverts people were putting up and they’re not super obnoxious like other sites

 No.13586

Side topic is, I can't believe there are not enough people without hobby web projects to spin up a less "compromised" version of NumberFag

 No.13588

 No.13596

Simple ads on 4chan only attract phone niggers. Don't do that. It would take some social engineering to get actual good posters from a phone ad.
We need quality to get people to come and stay here. I could imagine a sadpanda thread not haunted by a schizo or a scanlation thread with up-to-date resources being a reason for a visit every now and then. And speed should follow naturally from quality.

Can you try a short ad run and see what it does before committing to a longer one? I'm not sure what the options are.

I think everyone talking about gatekeeping and trying to filter out users fails to acknowledge that 4chan has gotten to the point it's at now through probably some of the most mainstream and public advertising/word-of-mouth out there and most everyone posting on imageboards right now, especially on 4chan right now, didn't find them through some forum link or conversation in an IRC community. A community will always need newfags to find it through some means to keep it bustling and if you want to preserve the existing culture you just moderate/bully those newfags the same you would anyone else. Those who can fit in will and those who can't will fuck off.

This is ultimately the case, we were all newfags at some point. At the very least, if the ad buy can be limited to boards, one would think that at least not getting /b/ and /pol/ tards will filter out the lowest of the low.
Have a nice wallpaper

It's more like alts are stuffed full of people with such a hatred for 4chan that they can't even think straight about making the alternatives better. They came to their solution not through the desire to actually create something, but a vengeance against a thing which they feel slighted them.
