coming here from smug means i voted for 8chan and the webring at the same time
No.6145
>>6142It's part of the webring which was itself assembled from the remnants of 8chan after it died. I think smug has direct origin to a board on 8chan, but I'm not a part of it so I can't say for certainty. I just read some of their meta threads over the years.

>>6142smug was around at the same time as 8/a/, run by the same people, and used as a bunker for when 8chan was down. It was also where r/a/dio threads were hosted.
if there's a post-shooting 8chan up at 8kun or 8chan.moe or whatever, I don't believe its /a/ board has any relation to smug
No.6147
>>6145Well I remember it was a spinoff of 8/a/ after it died, but doesn't that just make it the webring because 8moe and the webring are two different things but one labels itself 8chan.
No.6148
i voted 8chan because i still miss 8cham=n... its not exactly a rational thing... the webring is mostly an 8chan exodus in the first place, so smug really counts as webring first and foremost

Am I supposed to vote where I originally came from or what I used prior to the outage? You allowed multiple options so I'm just gonna click everything I used.

2005-2014: 4chan
2014-2017: 8chan
2017-2022: got sick of imageboards/socializing online and mostly just enjoyed hobbies alone
2022-now: tried lots of small altchans, stuck with heyuri, kissu and smug

Other, but if i said where i'm from i'd probably get banned for being "unrelated/too remote", so i'd rather not. But maybe the easier answer is just to say that i'm from work, try to escape from the eternal grind to an early grave...
>>6162>>6163I usually sleep in the nude too, but sometimes on colder days the extra warmth from having a soft layer over your cold feet can be quite a cozy feeling!

More or less in order:
> ??-2009: SomethingAwful
> 2009-2012: 7Chan, some forgotten small Altchans
> An indeterminate amount of years with heavy depression and too many brain drugs spent in the worst corners of internet, mixed with mainstream social media in an attempt to behave like a normal person. I have holes in my memory, and I don't feel like trying to remember
> 2020-2024: 4chan Until I was too tired of the porn / sharty spam and the second coming of GamerGape
> January 2025 - Now: Kissu after seeing it mentioned on 4chanX

i originally enjoyed posting on /what/ and gnfos after getting sick of posting on 4chan a while ago. i used to enjoy posting on 4chan when there was more OC and less twitter screencaps. before the hack it was like everypony was dunking wun anudder' and shitposting so that they could cap their own posts to repost it on twitter or something. discussion was impossible across all boards, but the shitposting wasn't really funny either, it was just annoying. i like imageboards because it's easier make a post about something and infodump everything you know about the subject. irl, i find that if you speak with any knowledge at all of any subject beyond a surface level understanding people get pretty creeped out. i deeply enjoyed the autism on display on 4chan when posters would drop long detailed posts of their autistic fixations, but now whenever i do the same my third eye reveals to me the visage of a drooling braindead moron behind a soyjak reply; a heaping mass of flesh with a vague and uncertain ancestry- a cocktail of races similar to that of a dog in a kennel wracked by seizures and other physical deformities.
