the only thing these countries bring over that is negative are their politics and desire to milk a country for the benefit of their own based on corrupting the populace with an idea that they are morally right.
We're supposed to be in a capitalist money centered economy yet all of our decisions are based around what feels good.
When we could get hoards of resources out of Ukraine being a NATO member we flounder and are concerned about our enemies.
When we can give money to a theocratic state to take down other theocratic states just because our religion tangentially aligns with another. We're so screwed

I believe the West to be a society built on top of a sort of nepotism. Family hierarchy.
The wealthy pass down their wealth to the next generation and the accumulation of wealth produces a populace where families who have done well get the most power to influence votes of others.
It's like a monarchy basically.
So you have immigrants and H1B holders who are therefore serfs or slaves.
But a slave can never become the king.
But if we look at China. Xi has no legacy. He had no money. Just some dumb fuck farmer who bought into Mao's ideas and worked hard, got rewarded. The West loves monarchies but Asia is a country where you actually get shit done for being proactive.

>>34224Putting Ukraine in NATO would start WW3, which would not benefit us at all.
The Israelis are the only ones with the competence to secure the region, the US really does want the Saudis to do it and actually does give them a lot of military support to that end but they are useless.
>>34227Yeah, like the time the Chinese tried to like all the sparrows and caused a famine killing million of people. Real science based approach.
>>34230Xi's father was a high ranking member of the Communist party, he was even Vice Premier at some point. Xi was not a humble peasant with no legacy. Also, regarding Asia itself, Asia is actually far worse in terms of nepotism than the west. Many high ranking politicians in Asia come from political families, look at the new prime minister of Thailand and her family for example(and also Thailand is a monarchy).

>>34241All of Canada's economy is import/export with the US. Our banking sector is best in world, but financials can't employ everyone.
Our material exports are pretty boring. Our service exports are higher quality than US counterparts, in my opinion
No.34243
>>34242Canada exports 33% of GDP and imports 33% as well. For comparison Britain exports 32% and Germany exports 47%. Canada is on the lower end of the scale in terms of trade to GDP world wide but not as low as countries like Australia, Japan and the USA. Having the USA as a major trading partner is a good thing given that it's the largest economy in the world and when I say it's facing issues I more mean societal ones and a possible recession. It's not going anywhere and Canada still will benefit from it(thought it might get caught up in a recession of it's own for a bit). Though Tariffs might affect things but Trump talks nonsense all the time so even if he gets in he might not go through with it and if he does you would think he would give Canada an exception.
Canada has a debt to GDP ratio of 104.7%, which is just above Britain who has 104.3% and below the USA at 123.3%. So that's a concern. Canada the UK and the USA are spending more servicing their debt than they do on their defence force at this point. Though of course that's partly due to high interest rates. Canada will have to go into austerity at some point.
It looks like Canada's economic growth is slowing and Canadian GDP per capita actually dropped and that's with the US economy running hot, a US recession or US tariffs would kill any hope of growth per capita.
But all of these are just overarching economic statistics and they don't really tell you the whole story. I know Canada has a housing cost problem but there are other factors to consider like the state of Canada's Healthcare, Welfare and other public services which these figures do not tell you. If Canada has a failing health care system as it is and then goes into austerity that will cause more issues than if the health care system was properly functioning to begin with.
Ehh. Things are probably going to get worse for Canada but it won't collapse or anything.

>>34243Oil revenue down because US is using their own reserves. That has a big effect. Reinvestment is basically all the government does.
Covid caused a lot of problems to neoliberal governments because they want to play center and not raise taxes but pretend that the burnout cost it had on doctors can just go away with time.
That's the biggest issue for any Canadian with decent job. Healthcare kinda shit right now. But When a Canadian and US ask the same questions they get the same answers.
The housing issue is overstated. Interest rates are being cut because our inflation is at 1.6%. My Brother will be buying a house on a medical proffesions salary
No.34245
>>34244Generally you increase spending in the economy during a rescission and not decreases it, raising taxes would only decrease it and make the economy worse. Also many governments already have very high tax rates and can't afford to increases them. Don't know about Canada, though Canada also has a problem in that it borders the USA so if taxes get too high there people and businesses can just move south.

Not say it's fair or anything but it is natural consequence of the fact people have children and generally raise them within their social circles. You literally cannot remove this feature from any group of humans without some draconian policies that inevitable result in the this exact thing happening as the thing that would enforce such polices would constitute people that have the incentive to create such generational power structures.
