Though I have nothing against dressing up and I think people who dedicate time stalking/harassing them as even worse people

I think cosplaying is kinda neat, but I don't have a very strong interest in makeup, hairstyles, or making clothes unfortunately. I am not really interested in the people doing the cosplaying or social media culture surrounding it. I think if I were a Japanese woman it would probably be fun to walk around in extremely niche cosplay at Comiket while looking at obscure doujinshi though, ignoring the heatstroke one would inevitably get. I think small circles would like to see their character come to life too. That alone would make the effort worth it, to support my favorite doujin circles in multiple ways. Niche cosplayers are probably good people for this reason, they're supporting their circles with passion.
At least for 2D, *_(cosplay) tags are a lot of fun I think everyone here can enjoy.

I like to stay positive and optimistic until I gain more information that leads me to being negative. So I prefer assuming initially cosplayers are like Marin and they're just doing it because they really like the works their cosplaying and want to show off their appreciation of it by trying their best to replicate it and bring it into the real world.
>>154603Same, and I'm not a girl or a cute boy so I can't really do any extravagant cosplaying myself. Think it'd be fun to go around in a monhun cosplay or something that'd fit anyone and just look cool. Signifying that I'm a proud GS user all the way.

>>154602a lot of what makes the rounds gets smothered in so much makeup and digital filter that the cosplayers barely resemble humans anymore.
which is a shame, because cosplay is super fun. i like checking out the tags on twitter when theres a weeb festival going on like comiket, always a great time to see people's ideas and impressively constructed outfits

>>154633Holy fuck that flash from like 25 years ago? That's amazing. I can't imagine many people would know that. I do like this kind of cosplay a lot where it's something obscure and something you could talk about and bond over.
No.154637
I don't really have any special feelings about traditional cosplay, but I can genuinely appreciate a well-done one if it doesn't trigger my sexism and the cosplayer doesn't come off to me like a stereotypical attentionwhore.
I do however REALLY like mascots and other "faceless" costumes that are typically done completely mute and for comedic purposes or just to make people happy. There's something incredibly special to me about a mascot communicating with you in gestures only, it just feels so much more wholesome and sincere. I feel similar for traditional cosplays of masked characters that don't talk and I'd love to try this out myself at some point.
>>154635>I do like this kind of cosplay a lot where it's something obscure and something you could talk about and bond overThis is great as well! Never encountered ones like that myself, but anything that is motivated by a "concept" more than just a character is super fun and makes me want to interact with the person.

Went to an anime convention earlier with a long time buddy, I basically told him all the cosplayers are girl failures and would likely not resist if you picked one up and took them home, we laughed and continued buying anime shit.
