I like to do all my household chores, cleaning, and other stuff on mondays so that I can avoid thinking about it at all until the next one. Helps to keep dat /jp/ dream life feel nice and organized and I think I get more stressed by letting things pile up and become a mess than having to clean it up.

I last cleaned my apartment around a year or so ago. There are dust bunnies everywhere.

That's no good, living in squalor is just going to make you feel worse!

That's only acceptable if your wife is one with the grime as well.

do roombas even work or are they tarded they always seemed like a lazy semi-rich person scam

>do roombas even work
It depends.

The cheaper ones: Not really, no. They're too big and can't fit beneath chairs or tables, and they can't see where they're going so they just ping off things and if you have anything on the floor that's not furniture they can get stuck. Floor boundaries like hardwood to carpet can be a struggle for them to drive up onto. Basically they suck and are useless.

The insanely expensive ones? Eh. Kind of. The smart ones can see so they're not completely stupid and actually form an internal map of your floor layout so that they can plan out a path for cleaning instead of just bumping off every wall like a game of pong. That said, they still have the disadvantages mentioned above.

Basically: they only work if you already have a fairly clean floor without obstructions.

The recycle bin is full and I missed last garbage day…

If this is the cleaning thread does anyone have advice on cleaning monitors? Most stuff online says to use a slightly damp microfiber cloth but I always end up with a bunch of streaks left.

I use microfiber cloth with screen cleaner spray. I don't know why you'd dampen it because that's going to guarantee streaks since it won't soak up the moisture on the screen if it's wet.

can i have general cleaning advice? i was never asked to do chores as a kid so i feel like i've missed out on a lot of lessons that have to do with such and it makes me a little anxious for the future

Stuff anything that would attract bugs (anything food has touched) into sealed containers like bottles, and don't bother cleaning up anything else. We're all going to die eventually so if you have three years of garbage piled up in your house that's three years of cleaning you never had to do.

If you buy flour, rice, and pasta, store those bags in a freezer for a month before putting them into jars and other containers. You DO NOT want to get a flour bug infestation because a few eggs slipped through. Freezing them will break the life cycle of any eggs or larva in your food.
Keep trash bins ideally in every room. Convenience helps keep waste from piling on your work areas.
If you have a habit of drinking soda and not finishing them, make a habit of carrying them out of the room and dumping them into sinks.
Keep a recycle bucket in your main dwelling area for them too and get a habit of pitching them as soon as you're done. Bottles can be flattened to make efficient space.
For laundry I'd suggest two baskets. One basket for dirty clothes and another for clean. If you don't have a habit of putting the clean clothes away as soon as you're done then it's good to have a second basket so you're not piling dirty clothes up on the floor. If you want a good incentive then know that brown recluses like clothing piles, so watch out if you live in their range.

I mostly just want stuff to be hygienic, which generally means clean. When it comes to organization, though, I'm really awful at it and over time entropy really takes over. Keeping things orderly just takes too much work. "Oh, this is A so it needs to go in Drawer C, or was that Drawer D?" blahblahblah.
Clean chaos, yeah, that works.

I like to let my room messy until it reaches a critical point of clutter, then I clean up because the feeling of cleaning up a filthy space is satisfying. I don't mean clutter as in piss bottles and empty pizza boxes though, I'm not THAT messy. But just enough that you would say "yeah time to tiddy up".

I treat cleaning like it's gameplay of an action game, both in tactics and in strategy. I mean example would be light-light-medium-light-heavy combos of cleaning across the days, the type is either like lazy jabs or full on combos or extra stages where I have to clean a greasy plate as the special finisher, for the day.
Admittedly my hallway, clothes, teas, and supplements shelves are disorganized completely all the time. Half of my large bed is just freshly dried washed towels and clothes.
