What’s the current state of McDonald’s and other fast food? Realized I need to eat and nothing else is really open at midnight. I feel like if I go to McDonald’s even if I get a normal cheeseburger I’ll be sorely disappointed and regret my decision. Is that accurate?

The thing they call a "sausage" in america is some disgusting gritty thing. And that's what they use for the patty in mcdonalds burgers. I'd just take the opportunity to fast in your position and lose that /qa/ bellah!

Fast food is getting more and more expensive so it's definitely much more of a treat than it used to be. McDonald's is alright, it's very consistent over the years. The fries are the best part and the chicken nuggets are decent, but that's about it for me. The burgers, well, they're not terrible but they're not great.
The prices, though, man, it's just ridiculous. If pic related was a McDonald's burg it would cost $50.

You know I've actually never liked the McNugget. Not once, not ever. They've always tasted weirdly pastey to me and I prefer Wendy's chicken nuggets which have stayed surprisingly consistent throughout time.

For me, it's the McChicken.

I really like trashy food as a treat every few weeks. It is very location dependent and what is good for someone else might not be good where you live, and vise versa. I think the cheap options are the best at wcdonalds, like the mcchicken and mcdouble. It feels like a superpower when you realize you can eat 3 or 4 of those because they're made of nothing. You have to utilize the apps to get deals now because coupons barely exist anymore, but the bigger chains can still be a decent value if you're just looking to eat junk or in a pinch and are willing to download them

In your position I'd fast.
Whenever I want fastfood I just make myself shawarma.

mcdonalds is good for cheap large drinks, and the buy 1 get 1 for a dollar menu.
the 6 piece mcnuggets, the mcchickens, and the double cheeseburgers are all buy 1 get 1 for a dollar and that makes them good deals.
I like getting 12 mcnuggets, or 2 mcchickens for a larger meal.

The two double cheeseburgers are only a dollar more than the two mcchickens but honestly they are lower quality hamburgers than the mcchicken is quality of chicken sandwich. If i was in the mood for hamburger instead of the two double cheeseburgers i would get a mcdouble meal deal, then i get some mcnugets and some fries, you can increase to a large drink for around 60 cents. The mcchicken meal deal is also good price but i think two mcchickens is a better value.

All the things ive listed have the extra flavor of being cheap which should lead to no regrets. If you do want to splurge the spicy mccrispy is good.

For me, it's the McBitten.

found out today I can get TWO mcapple pies for $2.39 which is less than one at the konbini so guess i'll get more of those since it's one of the few things on the mcdonalds menu that's edible aside from the fries

I gave up on most fast food places because they're expensive but also shittier than I remember from 6 years ago.

I'll go to like Culver's or Chick-Fil-A, but that's it. They're not terribly cheap either, but a $11 combo at either is infinitely more worth it than a $8 combo at Wendy's or whatever the fuck.

that being said, I will still end up at Taco Bell if it's literally midnight and I need to eat
haven't bothered with mcdicks in years

I remember being able to get a drink and two mcdoubles for $3+tax ages ago, shit's nowhere near that cheap anymore

I don't know, but every now and then I drive by and see the flag at half mast. I hope Mr. McDonald is okay.

Quality varies significantly between locations.

I only order side food meals in fast food chains nowadays. Nuggets, hot dogs, tater tots, or fries with a drink. Bonus if they add chili cheese to the fries.

McDonald's seem to always have a weird promo or tie-in going on here. The current one is a KPOP group I've never heard of. More often than not you can get a nice seasoning for your fries.

Personally I prefer MOS Burger. Their fish burger is really nice but I order it without mayo and onions. Their nuggies have a very nostalgic taste for me.

I used to love some Mickey Ds, but the location in my town went into the gutter with a change in management. The Dairy Queen is also owned by the same group of unhygienic people, when I want a banana split I don't want to see your dirty bare hands touching the banana. Subway was then my poison of choice until the same thing happened and quality became sloppy, you get a single napkin if you're lucky. They didn't want to turn the lobby lights on after dark or have the AC on in summer because well that costs money doesn't it? Talk about stingy.
So fuck that, I'll use a Sam's club membership card and get supermarket sushi made by some 40 year old Japanese man. $25 for 40 pieces of different rolls including shrimp tempura is hard to beat, and $10 for 30 california rolls is good too, both is more than I could eat in a sitting. It can't compare to the quality of the hole in the wall sushi place I know, but cheap sushi is very filling. Membership costs isn't so bad either, running groceries for family makes it pay for itself.

I heard a lot of good things about MOS. IF I go to Japan one of these days I'll have to hit it up. The shrimp katsu burgers look really good.

I wish we had actual good fast food here and not just cheap-tasting burgers and kebabs. I remember ordering a katsu curry at Go Go Curry in Akihabara and it was bloody amazing, and dirt cheap as well.

That's one of the things I'm really looking forwards to when I go to Japan. Even if I can't really live there seeing what could be with fast food in terms of pricing and quality could give me some hope for the future.

If I can I always prefer going to local places instead of big chains because big chains will always try to screw you in some way or another. My local bagel place would never do that.

where do you get fast food kebabs? I've never seen one of those places
