I should be wearing them, and do wear them when I need to drive. But by god are they so uncomfortable to wear, I just say "No" to glasses when I don't need them. I can read my computer screen well enough so I'm fine.

I don't understand the traditional measurement, but I was told my current glasses should boost my horrible eye from like 15% to 20% and my good one from like 85% to 100%. If I recall correctly, I was told there is no need to wear glasses unless you're below 80%~ and my bad eye doesn't count because I don't consciously use it anyway, but I got the glasses anyway because I think they look cool.

the doctor has said I do not need glasses.

Only when I'm in front of a screen at home.
They supposedly block blue light but I don't know.

>>7428This. I'm ultra autistic so the feeling of the glasses on my face is too distracting and eye contacts are out of teh question, there's no way I'm poking my eyes to put them on/remove them all the time.

Been told I had to use glasses for nearly 15 years now but I only gave in and got some last year. It's made a huge difference, especially when driving. Glasses themselves don't bother me unless they get smudged, which is a major pain for VR.

I hate wearing glasses, but I am very nearsighted. I wear contacts on social occassions, but I don't bother when doing chores like walking to the store to buy food. It costs money after all and I don't need or want to wear contacts when using my computer.

>>7427>If not, should you be wearing them but just refuse/don't have them?I don't know.
One granny once wasn't sure what was written on a billboard and asked me whether it was this word or that word. Then she concluded herself it's that word.
Meanwhile I didn't even notice the billboard had text, and I couldn't see anything that was written on it even as I tried to focus my eyes.
I'm doing great otherwise!

I am surprised you all have such poor eye sight. I can not imagine not being able to see at a distance. If I go up on a mountain or something I can see clearly to the horizon which is sometimes 30+ miles. My night vision seems to be getting worse and it's annoying. But during the day I can see fine at any distance. I wonder if it's why I have always been skilled at things like target shooting and driving.

>>7445lol
why is this
it can't simply be that megane men are more likely to have """nerdy""" interests
does overusage of computers make people have worse eyesight?
or is it that normalfags are more likely to get surgery, wear contacts, or just go without glasses out of vanity?

>>7427>>7448I always thought nearsightedness was a purely genetic thing. I did some research and apparently, it mostly has to do with how much time you spend looking at objects at different distances as a kid. If you spend your childhood with your face glued to a screen or a book, you get myopia.
This made me recall my grandparents always saying "don't sit so close to the TV, you'll go blind!". I kept my distance and ended up with perfect eyesight. Maybe they were onto something.

the suburb I lived in meant there wasn't really a reason to play outside so I didn't do it much as a kid

I used to have absolute dogshit vision but I got PRK surgery and my vision has been perfect since, bit expensive but it was worth it. Also the skull indentation where my glasses sat is just about gone now
only thing that annoys me is now it feels extremely unguarded and when i walk in the rain i feel it hit my eyes and it feels extremely unusual

>>7450The carrots/green beans improve night eyesight turned out to be true. Thanks Great Grandma for forcing me to eat so many of them.
I bet this has a lot to do with people being raised in cities as well. Where you can't see further than 50 yards at a time because there is so much crap in the way. Where I grew up in the middle of nowhere we had rolling fields that went for miles and mountains to climb. So I was always having to focus on stuff at a distance then switching back to whatever was right in front of me.
I got myself into the habit of looking out my window (which I keep uncovered) next to my desk. I do it at least once every hour or so for at least a couple of minutes. That way I force my eyes to focus on stuff way out in the distance between staring at the monitors. If I don't do it and go on 12+ hour computer sessions my eye sight is really awful for a good while afterwards.
I think part of the not sitting so close to the TV thing was people being afraid of the CRTs back in the day. Since it was known they could produce x-rays. I have a half working CRT now where the electron gun gets out of line and one of the caps inside is blown. It still works if you nudge it now and again to kick the electron gun back into track. But if you hold your hand behind it for too long it'll make your hand go numb. I should probably fix it or test it for emissions but I'm too lazy and I like having cancer machine on my desk.
