The time of Watanagashi draws near once more. /cry/ is open for the month of June, nipah~! Add it to /all/ in options as a spoiler-heavy board is hidden by default! //(⁀ᗢ⁀) \\

I'm mean, what's the worth of knowing an IP in a world of proxies, dynamic IPs, IP obfuscation, IP spoofing, completely incorrect or downright broken geoIP adresses, "allocated" empty IP ranges, and who knows what else...?

oh no i think he rather means the posts/images/ips counter that is/used to be at the bottom of standard threads in 4chan and other imageboards, indicating how many ips have made posts in a given thread

Yeah no i got that. But 4chan doesn't even show that anymore right? Besides, my point still stands, why count unique IPs on a thread if anyone can easily make one's IP into almost any other IP with just a program or online service (or maybe even just by happening automatically by their ISP)?

to eyeball the amount of people interacting with a given thread, i guess
the ip hopping people are usually in the minority

Maybe in discussions that attract charlotens like politics or finance, but otherwise no, I don't think it's ever "needed"

I only ever used them to see when someone was samefagging on 4chan, but I don't think that really happens on kissu(?) so I wouldn't really see the point.

 No.6969

I understand the need for them but I don't think Kissu needs them at the current moment.

I think if things are dire enough that people feel that an IP counter is needed and helpful, other things should be done to fix things instead. If a board has a culture of samefagging to incite flamewars then those people should simply be punished instead of using a software solution for a social problem.
At least in theory. I think on 4chan it probably served a purpose in terrible threads or on terrible boards, but maybe those things shouldn't have been allowed to persist to begin with.

It's the new french version of desu.

It's used as a soyjak imitation of people constantly putting le before things in 2010 memes or whenever ragecomics were all the rage. You can tell in this context because they always say ">x is le good/bad" with an ugly image to "win arguments". It's one of those nice things where if you filter out " le " including the spaces unless you speak french nothing of value is lost.
