The only time I'm truly happy is when there is a thunderstorm. I wish it would storm all of the time. Every day.

I like to listen to rainstorm sounds soundscapes, though I'd recommend just living in a very climatic area...

There is a lone mountain near me that normally splits storm systems in two coming from the west. They break apart then rejoin together just after they pass my house. I have to pray the wind blows from the south to get any good ones.

I don't understand why people are scared of them. I like them. All the animals come to cuddle up with me during storms because they know I'm not afraid. I've been in three tornadoes so far and they were all really fun.

I think something is wrong with me or I am storm God in training.

I'm not a fan of thunderstorms when I'm trying to sleep, but otherwise yeah they're quite nice. It was a very rainy and stormy Spring here, unusually so, and it was kind of nice when it was happening.
It's not so nice once it's over and it becomes awkward and messy to walk outside of concrete, though.

I like thunderstorms when I sleep because the rain pounding on the tin roof drowns out everything and makes be feel tired. I grew up in a tin house. So when storms would come through and it poured down rain or hailed the noise of it would drown out everything. You couldn't hear the TV at full volume and could barely hear the person sitting next to you. It was comfy.

We didn't have trees for wind or rain breaks. So when storms would come through gusting sometimes it felt like the house was going to come off the foundation. My mother was always terrified of them and thunder in general. She puts on her shoes and paces back and forth like she's going to run away from it. Always got really pissed off because I wanted to go outside and watch or stand with the door open.

Have not had the good luck to ride out a major hurricane yet. I lived by the coast for years and one never came. Then when I moved back inland they got three or four in a row.

If I had the money to outfit a van with radar I'd probably try to make it as a storm chaser.

I prefer rains. Some thunderstorms are rainless.
Air moisture, air pressure, soothing sounds, air stops being dusty, air without static, most of environmental smells are elevated, it's easier to notice people coming because of steps into wet surfaces, makes bugs quiet down, makes wild animals roam around less, makes birds quieter, makes being outdoors good, makes being indoors good, walkings through heavy rains are like journeys to laugh at.
It should rain everywhere at least once every few days.

Thunderstorms scare me, afraid some natural disaster will wipe out our home or something.

I prefer rain too but if it's rain with thunder that makes it better
thunder without rain kinda sucks but at least there isn't sun out and normies aren't usually outside either
sucks for animals tho

>makes birds quieter
You reminded me of this. Have you noticed since a couple of years ago the birds have started singing all night and the crickets don't chirp anymore? I think it's the new LED street lights. The birds near my house refuse to shut up now and go at it all night long. There is a street light on the corner of my yard and I think it tricks them into thinking it's still the day time.

I first noticed this in the summer of 2020. I walked 3-4 miles to my friend's house. The road between his house and mine has a small neighborhood about halfway between our houses with a lot of street lights. The rest of the road is dark and not lit. I was walking back home at 2-3am.

It was eerie because for most of the walk all the night sounds were normal. Crickets chirping and frogs croaking. Then when I got near the neighborhood they all went quiet and were replaced with birds singing. I heard birds until I passed to the other side and got away from the lights. Then it got quiet again and further down into real darkness the normal night sounds started up.

They replaced the bulbs in the street light on our corner sometime this year and since then the birds by my house never shut up unless it has rained.

I have lost way too many computers to lightning to enjoy thunderstorms.

Ideal night: Hard rain, 10+mph wind with heavy gusts up to 50+mph, constant rolling thunder, lighting striking close from time to time so you can feel the thunder vibrating the house, at night preferably between midnight and 4am with a chance of tornadoes. I love that feeling where you aren't sure if it's just driving straight line winds or a tornado is bearing down on you in the darkness. Extra points if the wind is gusting hard enough to throw acorns and small branches out of the trees so I can hear them bouncing off the tin roof. Or if there is a bit of hail for the same effect.

When it's like that I like to go side on my porch and be surrounded by it. But that habit has gotten me some close calls over the years. Got blinded for a bit and my ears rung good from lighting striking a tree within a few feet of me. I didn't get hit but I just happened to be looking right at the tree at the time. All I saw was a blue flash then everything went black for a moment. Couldn't hear anything for a few minutes until my ears stopped ringing. Had to stumble inside and recover on the couch.

Getting struck by lightening is probably my preferred way to die. It'd be cool to go that fast because it knocked you out and stopped your heart or something. You'd never feel it I think.

People that get struck by lightening are really interesting. There are lots of them that have been struck multiple times. It's like after you get hit the first time it's attracted to you from then on.

I'm pretty brave and stupid with lightening. I don't do this anymore but when I was a kid I used to stand out in fields holding up aluminum baseballs bats or metal poles. Tempting fate. It was pretty dumb but I was brave and stupid as a child I guess.

I was on a mountain once when a big storm came through and thought for sure we were all going to get hit. Our hair stood up nearly straight. I had hair down to my ass at the time and it stood up like a mohawk. Everyone else's did too. But the storm passed by us without striking anything. It just rained hard for a few minutes. We were far away from any shelter and the tallest thing around for miles. Not sure why it spared us.

Imagine getting struck by lighting just because you naturally have skin with good conductivity, high water content of the body, and electrolyte charge deviation. And then surviving getting struck ends up amplifying the latter.

You should consider that they might've had hair before being hit by lightning.

I like them conceptually but I've been in enough to prefer not to be in one. Power surges and blackouts is a slow attrition on old home wiring and electronics. Trees getting knocked over and breaking things. I would also greatly prefer we didn't have tornadoes and spin the wheel whether we lose everything or not.
I love the rain and rolling of distant thunder and the rare hail too, just not all the other crap that comes with storms.

First strike burns all your hair away. Thus removing the protection you had. Making later strikes far more effective.
