Just learned about mucus today after I experienced a miracle of having all my illness instantly lifted after I let out a big, thick glue-like green snot after days of bad fever, migrain and flu.
It really is supposed to trap all the virus inside so you can easily get them out of your system, and it still fascinates me how my body feels can quickly change in response to virus' presence. I really felt like a devil just came out, unpossessed my body.
All the modern medicines and recommendation to rest had convinced me that all recovery process are gradual, while all I did was drinking a lot of warm water and take a walk every morning.

It's gross, but blowing your nose clean when your sick is a great feeling. A brief moment of your head finally feeling empty, until your sinuses fill up again and you do it all over again.

If you managed to have a really thick mucus that's keeping all the virus inside and expel them all out that feeling won't be just brief. Even more you're instantly made a significant recovery.
It must be how antidote that remove bad status in video game actually works.

The biggest and most sudden "feeling" improvements I've ever had are associated with vomiting. Sometimes a really bad migraine will even end with a simple evacuation. I don't really understand it. It feels like a psychological thing because it doesn't make sense otherwise. I've even tried (and occasionally succeeded) in manually vomiting with a finger down the throat to speed my recovery... and it worked.
The human body is a mystery.

Nothing mysterious about it. It just means you literally expelled the disease out instead of neutralizing it, but I don't think vomiting is a natural response to bacterial infection and more exclusively related to stomach problem so personally I won't do it for every illness.
Then again it's just my own conjecture than actual research.

I mean, it's not like my headaches are related to anything digestive, at least from what I can tell. It's just like the act of vomiting sends a message to the other parts of the brain to stop sending pain signals for some reason.

>vomiting ... migraine
Yeah, used to get migraines every other week in school, would always feel so relieved after vomiting. I've also read that dipping your feet in hot water supposedly takes the blood in your head towards your feet therefore lessening your headache, haven't tried it because haven't got a migraine ever since school.

Well anon, one of the bodies natural responses after vomitting is to flood itself with endorphins, which act as natural painkillers and general "feel good" hormones, which is why you feel so much better after vomitting. However, don't think that vomitting is the cure-all for pain or illness, it just gives you a temporary "high" after the act is over.

Yeah I associate vomiting more with the feeling of relief it gives rather than whatever bad thing is causing it in the first place. I haven't gone as far as intentionally inducing it though.
