I do prefer my Mikus to have cushioned bottoms.
I've been using the same Corsair "gaming" keyboard for like 15 years. I think the ease of movement on a slick, smooth metallic surface is more important for wrist health than a cushioned one. Whenever I try a mouse on something else, like temporarily the desk itself, the amount of resistance really gives it a worse feel.
Maybe the ideal is a cushioned mousepad with a smooth metallic top? Those two properties probably nullify each other, though.
