>The IMAX version of the film was created from a new 4K restoration directly overseen by Studio Ghibli’s own Atsushi Okui, who has been involved in nearly every major Studio Ghibli project since he first started at the studio in 1993. Okui’s most recent credit with the studio was as Director of Digital Imaging on Miyazaki’s Academy Award-winning The Boy and the Heron, which was also the first Studio Ghibli film to screen in IMAX format

Why must you be so pessimistic.

Watched it. Despite the seats being pretty heavily bought in some theaters was able to get a nice seat in one a bit further. Not many people around and everyone was pretty quiet so I could enjoy the movie in IMAX. It didn't look too crazy on the big screen compared to if I saw it normally, but the IMAX sound is just incomparable to anything you're not spending top dollar on in terms of home theater equipment.

Really it's such a lovely movie that it was worth getting tickets for it. I love the message of trying to promote a healthier connection with nature that his movies promote, and Mononoke-hime is probably the most forceful with that messaging. But in typical fashion Miyazaki doesn't let that bog down the rest of the story and keeps the characters complex enough so that you can empathize with each of them whilst still taking away the greater message about cooperating with nature. All the girls in it are great and I'm not sure if I prefer San or Eboshi. San's definitely cuter and more youthful, but Eboshi is pretty nice too.

Also I've been seeing this "Ghibli style" AI stuff that's been going around recently and I have to say I'm extremely unimpressed and it doesn't really look like Ghibli that much. Just more gay AI stuff that'll probably be a fad for a bit and die off when people get bored of it.
