I believe that now is the right time to address some of these baseless, fake, bad-faith, and outrageous claims and rumors surrounding Miko of the Hakurei Shrine.
First and foremost, that she would do ANYTHING for a coin? This one doesn't make any sense WHATSOEVER! It is important to know that shrine maidens are entirely pure, both in mind and spirit. Hakurei Reimu would never stoop so low for a single measly coin!!!
Second, that she's the embodiment of greed? I do believe that there's something that everybody CONVENIENTLY chooses to forget: If it weren't for her noble actions, Gensokyo would be drowning in pure chaos as we speak! Without spell card rules, humans would've never stood a single chance against youkai! If anything, it shows that Hakurei Reimu is MORE than deserving of gold!!! The Hakurei shrine is RIGHTFULLY worthy of worship!!
Third, that she is extremely lazy... You should know that repeating the same daily mundane tasks of maintaining the shrine without a single human VISITOR coming over to DONATE would become tiresome and seem pointless after a while.
And finally, fourth. That she mercilessly killed an innocent man? You should know that the man in question was a YOUKAI. YOUKAI are not to be trusted, befriended or loved by any humans!! Humans and YOUKAI are not meant for each other!!! In fact, that "innocent" man posed a GREAT threat to Gensokyo, and had to be dealt with accordingly.
This post should hopefully clear the Hakurei name and some of the misconceptions. Yes, she might have a rough personality, but behind that lies a heart made of gold! With that said, please consider donating to the Hakurei shrine.
