A cool thing about Karen which some people might've missed is that she's clearly inspired by Kamen Rider:
- she claims herself to be an hero of justice just like Kamen Rider
- she does tokusatsu poses
- Kamen Riders are mostly based on insects and her oddity is a bee
- the red scarf she wears in her 'cute' outfit is reminiscent of the scarf wore by early Kamen Riders

Had to let my inner /m/ out for a moment. Give the manga a try sometime (Kamen Rider Spirits). It's cool. It's more 'mature' than the TV show.

I wonder why I cam really only like the failed/weird idols in shows. Voiced by a "real" one (Ruby from LL), but still... it's these weird with entertaining flaws that are far more enjoyable to me. Idolmaster has some good SoL stuff, but that's despite the idol part. I wish Fruit Tart would come back with more seasons...

Would somebody mind explaining how some random shota isekai comedy managed to secure a good studio with a high budget that is competing with some of the better anime this season in entertainment value? Seriously it's got great comedic timing, and a setting that values its magic and breaking it in so many creative ways while not feeling like the author's personal wankfest over themself. Lloyd's quite the mischievous and charming creature, he sort of sucks you in and has you wondering what kind of bs he'll pull out of his ass next. It's more comedic than serious though so I'm more laughing with it than with something like Mahouka where it's played completely straight.

Mitsurugi carefully took a stance with his hands on the hilt of his magic sword and stared at me.

“Big Boss, if we take down the strongest guy, we can intimidate the others. Allow me to defeat that good for nothing cool guy in an instant. Let’s break through in the confusion right after that.”

“Hey, I heard that. The ‘good for nothing cool guy’ you mentioned is me, right? Defeat me in an instant…? I’m really being looked down upon by an unarmed man. All right, I’ll show you my true…”

Before Mitsurugi finished, I raised my hand toward his magic sword.

As a high level adventurer with a top-tier job, Mitsurugi should be able to withstand my Drain Touch for quite a while, even if I managed to steal his weapon.

“This movement, are you planning to use Steal? Unfortunately, after I lost to a certain man, I now carry a lot of redundant items on my person to guard against this skill. Just give up now and…”

“Freeze.”

I cut off Mitsurugi’s words and used freezing magic.

 No.75520

He specifically says it's non-lethal. The whole chapter is a Tom and Jerry chase of Kazuma bullying the increasingly demoralized guards, not a huge brawl that he wins by spraying a bit of water on the face of one of the strongest guys in the world. Remember that this is the guy who died to kobolds the day before.

Is "P" the cutest sound in music? It seems like it's a sound that comes up a lot in "cute" music.
Pa, Pi, Pu and so on. I first noticed this when Star Twinkle and Endro were both airing at the same time, but since then I notice it whenever it pops up.
Do you have a favorite P song?

it's funny because in Japanese outside of mimetics /p/ is basically an allophone of /h/ after nasals and /Q/. It's not even an independent sound. And all that because it's such an easy sound to be lost.

 No.75513

>>75512
I wouldn't go that far. It's extremely common across not just mimetic but also gairago, there exist some words that can geminate /h/ like the names ゴッホ and コッホ or the informal おっはー, and in kango it doesn't have a direct 1:1 correlation with the presence of /N/ due to rendaku getting in the way sometimes. These things make it contrastive, which allophones aren't: it's like how they confuse [si] and [ɕi] because only the latter exists as a result of /si/, both combinations come from the same phoneme and are never used to distinguish one word from another, or how they have a lot of difficulty differentiating /l/ from /r/ in other languages because the Japanese /r/ is more of a [ɾ~ɺ~l~ɹ~ɮ~ɖ] grabbag. (Underspecified even syntactically!) Or how English speakers don't tell apart the aspirated vs non-aspirated instances of their voiceless stops, going so far as to even devoice their approximants like in /tæp/ = [tʰæp] and /træp/ = [t̠ɹ̠̊˔æp].
So yeah, definitely an independent sound, 100%.

While looking closely at my Stardust Telepath screenshots, I can't help but think that AI may have been involved in the generation of these visuals.
Some lines that I am sure a human would have drawn in one strike are done in multiple ones that don't quite line up. Some quirky inconsistencies in line thickness and direction in general (that often to be directly influenced by other lines). Coincidental meetups of unrelated lines...
And well, the swirls in Umika's eyes in this image first triggered my suspicion. The patterns do not look like something that a human would intuitively draw (not to mention the blurriness).

I wonder how prevalent AI assists are in anime/manga generation nowadays.

(and speaking of the eyes of Stardust Telepath, isn't it strange that Yuu's eyes so clearly match Umika's hair, while Umika's eyes do not match Yuu's hair? Will she change eye colors or will she cheat on her girlfriend?)

I know this much: They will use any and all methods to cut costs. I imagine soon humans will only be drawing keyframes and they'll be using AI to fill in the gaps between them. Since you can just like the GPUs run for awhile and probably get an acceptable string of in-between frames out of it. I think it's true that a lot of lower-tier artists (meaning still working their way up the ladder) will be out of work soon.

They already outsource a lot of stuff where there is cheap labor. They'll be looking to cut those people out of the loop as soon as possible.
