I've got a couple of things that Kissu has had on the backlog for a while. Some new, some old.
I want to know if there's anything to add to this list.
It's a bit disorganized because some features blend into others. Like adding a better search to kissu would also tie into building up an archive where posts are stored longterm in a more compressed form.
I'll make a poll to see what's most desired later. But I wanted to give the chance to bring up anything I may have forgotten.
Like maybe there's a more general maintenance goal that's requested or perhaps some 4chanX feature exists you'd like to see moved over.

This is more a preliminary check to see if I missed anything for a future poll and to gauge any interests.

New Websites for more features
A Search feature as a new website
This combines with: Longterm Archive feature as a new website
A cross site threadwatcher as a new website. An idea I spoke of here https://kissu.moe/qa/thread/151827#qa-152927. With stats tracking(replace marge.moe)
Stats tracking website as I said above. Just ties into the idea of a threadwatcher
Vichan replacements
This divides into several concepts each distinct:
moderator panel remakes. The thing that might be interesting here is working out a way to encrypt data such that only admins with private keys can see IPs and other sensitive info. Otherwise it's scrambled in the case of a hack.
Server side posting+reporting+deleting software remakes
Replace MySQL database with a more contemporary solution. Of the same idea but a separate task.
The end results of these goals would be making kissu's older software open source while the new one continues being hidden/proprietary.
UI Rewrites
Into another framework(svelte) to create better performance and remove technical debt
Tauri Desktop App + Mobile application. Which also ties into the above since it would be a new framework.
New HTML page to replace Vichan's Twig templaters

I'd like a place where I can inject temporary event CSS that isn't attached to a post. I guess it would have a toggle to it. Maybe somewhere on the sidebar there could be a "SPECIAL CSS ACTIVE" with a checkbox that people could unmark if they're unfun.

Actually, I did a slight typo.
I meant to actually write Desktop app and potentially mobile. Since our moderator UI remake would probably be a desktop app

It would be neat to have a more user-friendly way to apply custom css, basically porting the features you get on 4chan through Onee-chan and its sister scripts. That's one thing I always miss on alts.

It seems like CSS is a topic I missed, but it really overlaps with UI development topics.
I'm not sure how to approach it alongside goals for fixing technical debt.

I'll have to come up with a strategy that works them in. Consistent development alongside creating new software has always been a struggle for the site's tech levels.
I think I know how to approach it but I'll think up some ideas later

this would be great since hiding the thread on old ui doesn't remove the css

The only thing I'm not a fan of is the archive idea, I've always felt that they're somewhat counterproductive to the idea of anonymous posting. Even knowing that people could still archive and search through individual threads manually, archives provide you with easy instant access to certain people's post history if they make themselves easily identifiable through their posting behavior, which I think discourages open discussion.

I've always preferred the system of the original 4chan archive, the one that required users to request individual threads they felt were truly worthy of archival. Submitted threads were given some time to receive votes from the community, and if the required amount per board was met, the team would officially archive the thread after confirming that it was safe to do so. This made the archive actually fun to read through, with the majority of it feeling like a museum of quality, at least before user numbers exploded and people started to beg for votes on the stupidest stuff imaginable.

hm. that's a lot like NPFChan's archive functionality which we added from them.

On here, while a lot of that code was removed for a more slim archive to restore threads after spam and just general archiving, this could be considered. The idea here was being able to search the site for content using something close to how desuarchive or 4pleb UI works.

I'm not sure if it's something that would really be missused or if it's more of a hypothetical. But if it makes things more difficult in communities it would need to be considered.
Overall it's an idea from a long time back that I included because I haven't forgotten about it.

Hadn't done it but it came up in conversation that we were still on MySQL instead of MariaDB.

It's a tough question. I know of one person who effectively got doxxed with the help of the archive when anons searched for their unique tells and dug up info from more honest posts and images on other boards. At least through 4chan and its gigantic archives it's relatively easy to get at least some additional info if you know how to use search operators, what to look out for and if the target is a chronic attentionwhore that likes to make enemies.
Kissu is different in that stereotypical victims will most likely already get filtered by moderation, making it harder to develop a grudge on someone, but an archive of a smaller community also sounds like it might make it easier to get a match if you are looking for one. I don't wanna fuck up your efforts though, I assume most people wouldn't mind an archive and it's just people with OPSEC autism who'd feel a little eh about it. Which is also kinda ironic on a site that tries to keep Tor and such at bay.

Just test posting
