What the fuck is this phase 3
I thought there would be something after this but surely not right? This is insane

Now do the double jump override input.

Saw a spoiler for how to get the secret ending and now I'm trying to do that, and thank god Grandmother Silk has a simple enough attack pattern because this shit is AIDS, literally

Done with the game for now, time to unhide the thread.
Gonna stop at 90% in 50-ish hours, but this is definitely a game I'll come back to for one reason or another.
Amazing game as expected, you get stuff like this once every few years on average.
First sinner was my favorite fight by a good margin too, really great stuff. Looking forward to fighting him again whenever boss rush is out. The hardest one was the ant lady. I think I missed some boss fights too, hopefully nothing too amazing in those but I'll see them eventually.
Played most of the game pretty basic style, just hitting with the nail and mostly with the reaper crest so I feel like the whole crest system was a bit wasted on me unfortunately. If you were to optimize it (which you'd have to if you were to do hardcore without too much pause-scamming) you'll definitely want to use different ones on different bosses though and you'd have to master most if not all of them. The part that sucks about them is that some have downward-forward attack and it fucks with platforming, might've used other crests more if not for that.
>>10517Used that one most of the game before switching to wanderer, that one is definitely stronger if all you want to do is hit with your nail. You could say it's harder but I'm not so sure, you get more damage in so you finish fights faster. If you get good at clashing (previous game didn't give you invuln frames on clash did it?) you could even go full unga-bunga style with that crest, preferably with flea drink.
>>10527Stuff like this was one of my favorites. It's a really nice change of pace.

Abyss escape is going to give me hell on Steel Soul...
Actually, most of the game is. Definitely not going to be a walk in the park like HK's was.

Missing 3 spool fragments and a few tools.... On the plus side think I'm almost finished with the bestiary once I have the game complete.

I bought the game a fews days ago for PC. Is anybody else playing on Mouse and Keyboard? It says not to and I was doing okay ignroing it but know that I have unlocked dash/sprint I am finding it difficult to actually use it on keyboard.
No.10810
>>10809I use controller. Some things just aren't good on keyboard, and this game is one of them, though I know some speerunners will swear otherwise because of some frame perfect input you can't do on the controller or whatever.

>>10810I figured, I'll have to use a controller.
Z is jump, X is attack, left right arrow keys are left and right. The issue is that dash is C.
No.10815
>>10791I don't think this game has one. I haven't done path of pain but I did do white palace and from what I hear path is harder. In this game I haven't ran into anything harder or on par with white palace, there is somewhat hard stuff but it's all in short bits. It's definitely not nearly as hard as they could've made it.

Sigh... My controller is at my mums.
I am going to try rebinding things to see if I can get it to work better.

It just didn't live up to my expectations, particularly I think the core metroidvania map experience is worse this time around while I've always defended Hollow Knight's. I think things like gating progress by having things not spawned on the map until the quest is triggered are actually antithetical to the genre and it made for superfluous backtracking and punished me for thinking "but I've already been there".
They seem to have put most of their effort into making sure enemies are appropriately scaled to Hornet's increased movement options over everything else but it feels like the platforming isn't similarly scaled up.
No.10978
>>10968I'm going to save my critiques of the map experience for when I've actually started doing the 100% speedrun, but I can see and do think that the seemingly lack of anything in an area until a quest is triggered can be a bit annoying. Not so much with ones that involve NPC movement, but the ones in which you're tracking a hunt. Think ideally you'd gate those encounters naturally so that they can be encountered early on and before the quest, but maybe they're just too hard or need an upgrade to get to. Maybe it'll be something they address in DLC but I don't really think it's possible unless they revise the rosary system a bit so that it's more selling dropped enemy items that nets you beads instead of just being dropped by enemies so you can be collecting potential quest items before you've even started.
I think with stuff like
>>10975, we're going to see a bit more of the world start to open up as people really dig into it. Maybe in a year or a few months I'll come back to it and like I did with HK come to absolutely love it as I route out different paths towards the ending.
