What was your opinion of the 2025 Spring anime season? What were your favorites? It was quite a strong season if you ask me, and I'll give my opinions later (I wanted to make this thread before I forget)

I only watched 4 shows this season and filled the rest of the hours of the month with past classics I've never watched, but my favorites were the nbr incest show and yuri ninja show.
The other two was the witch demon show and the fantasy show with the really good ending music.

I'm being way too vague. This ending.

I usually only watch pre-digital anime and franchises I grew up with, but I did watch Koupen-chan this season and that's my favorite! I also saw a couple of frames from the other shows whenever I tabbed into the theater to see how much longer until Koupen is up, but nothing compared.

Isn't Koupen universally appreciated on Kissu?

I think it was a really great season. I didn't watch everything, but I saw quite a few and I'd say my favourite were Rock is Lady's modesty, Maebashi witches and ninkoro. The SoL stuff this season was also really great, thoroughly enjoyed everything I watched.

Was a fun season.
NinKoro and Shoushimin Series were so very good, probably the best we've had in a long time and beyond.
mono, Summer Pockets, and Uchuujin MuMu were also fun.
Yami Healer was dumb but fun.
LOTS of cute girls too, always a good sign.

Everything that's good ended well or has another set of episodes(summer pockets)

I'm not feeling motivated enough to write everything at once, so I'll go show by show with what I watched.
"Meh" shows for now:

Mono - Great starting premise, kind of lost its initial identity and became a tourism show. Still had some nice moments as the Yuru Camp guy was behind it and he knows how to make endearing characters. I'm just not personally a fan of the "Whoa it's the Blahblahblah Rock Formation in the Yadda Yadda Prefecture! You should go pay tourism money to visit it in real life! DO IT NOW!" stuff.

Me and the Alien Mumu - Another good premise, but the execution is kind of weird to me. It wants me to care about the aliens, but the meat of the show is the tech teardowns which are actually really informative and cool to see in 2D form. The rest of the show just lacks something to stand out, although I like the main girl's hair. The shop teacher side character (seen on the right here) is the best character and needs his own show. Suffers from bad subtitles. I don't know if I'll finish it.

File:[ASW] Aharen-san wa Hakare….jpg (255.74 KB,1920x1080)

Witch Watch - Massive swings in story quality. One episode can be engaging and the next puts me to sleep. It introduced side characters and didn't give me a reason to care about them, although the tengu did have a nice episode with the time slowdown thing. It lacks coherent direction and it puts me off from saying I like it much. I don't know how there's going to be two cours of it.

Aharen S2 - First few episodes were good, but then it largely threw away its uniqueness. It stopped devoting time to nonsensical fantasies and jokes that carry on way too long (in a good way) in favor of typical highschool storylines. It still has its moments, but just barely. The gyaru is a good addition and it's a shame they wasted her potential as she was a good source of misunderstandings. If everything was like episode 2 or 4 it might have been my favorite show since this type of humor is something I love.

Oops I forgot that I decided to merge the posts

Chuuzenji-sensei - I think objectively it's not a great show, but there's something about it that I just like. The setting is relatively unique - Japan around WW2, sometime before it I guess? It isn't specifically brought up, but there are allusions to something going on soon. The actual focus is mythology and mysteries, which are nice little stories albeit without any emotional impact. Has one of my favorite OPs which I attached to the post!

File:[SubsPlease] Enen no Shoub….jpg (204.88 KB,1920x1080)

Enen no Shouboutai (dang all these shows make most sense with gold text) - The first few episodes of this season were kind of lacking. It even devoted 2 of them to comedic filler with the chuuni knight guy, which seems like a bad use of time. The fights looked great, though, as expected of David Productions. Great sound design, too. The recent episodes are getting good thematically and visually overall. The style of the "other side" in particular are very alien and creepy. Too bad it's over now and there won't be more until next year. Unfortunately the characters I like the most, like Tamaki and the Captain barely show up since their power levels are too low. (But that's what makes them interesting characters...)

Aru Majo ga Shinu Made - Might be the most surprisingly good and serious show of the season. Lots of tone shifts into serious stuff before it dives back into silliness. The LN source material is scheduled to end this year so maybe a season 2 with the conclusion will come at some point. I really like shows in this type of "problem of the week" format like Kino no Tabi.

Hmm... I shouldn't have committed to this with so many shows. Alright, what's next...

Kowloon Generic Romance is a cool mystery show with a nice retro-ish style. It has a few things that would throw the modern imageboard audience into outrage spasms, though, so keep that in mind if you're not an adult. Really great OP and quite a unique premise although it's one of those shows where it's difficult to say much without spoiling things. This is a show that to me started out as sort of a "Ehhh not sure if this will be any good" but it really came around to being a very enjoyable show. This season, man, so many good shows.

Shiunji-ke no Kodomotachi
- Someone else mentioned the show upthread briefly and I'm glad someone else was watching it. This show has the highest sex appeal of the season, very titillating but the stories are also surprisingly good and emotional. The premise where they find out at the beginning of episode 1 that they're not blood related feels like a cop out, but it does feel like a more natural way to set up the premise instead of just a general harem or incest story. Really cute girls.
