If you think you'd like it go for it. Just know that NG+ is where the "real game" starts and you start thinking about builds and gear crafting. Until then the first time you play is one long 100 hour tutorial beating NG.
Just take your time enjoying and learning the game and trying different things, don't bother with farming or optimizations until higher difficulties.

The point is getting gud at the game. It's a tutorial in the sense that the bulk of the game is in higher difficulties: harder areas, new accessories, set bonuses, graces, underworld and abyss, etc.
Learning and getting good at the mechanics is important to not get stomped at those levels. Play around with different weapons and see what you like best.
It wants you to get things like ki bursting and stance switching into muscle memory since this isn't a game you can brute force with just better gear, the game is very liberal with the tools it throws you to compliment your skill and playstyle.

It's not really the tutorial since if you're not that good at the games then NG can still be quite tough as many people complained about when it came out. But the truly ass-breaking content lies beyond that initial playthrough and especially in the Abyss and WoTN (was it that in 2?) where if you haven't figured out an amazing build you're just not going to progress.
