Just platinum'd SANABI and it's probably one of my favorite games that I've played all year, though it came out a while ago. It's a 2D indie platformer-ish based almost entirely around grappling movement. I didn't have too much trouble with it outside of my most recent playthrough where I played on hitless difficulty, but it does have the makings of a game that could give some people trouble with getting through it if you're really not good. Though I'd say it's definitely worth toughing it out, as the story for it may seem a bit cheesy cyberpunk at first, but as it unravels it blooms into something I'd say is quite beautiful by the end. Nearly moved me to tears by the final scene. If you've got some spare change, give it a chance and pick it up, supposedly there's a DLC coming soon starring the Major.

Soundtrack's pretty great too which helps while you're trying to get through the levels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBhYIxpS5Gg

Also think this video showcases the combat of the game a bit better. The cyberpunk/traditional asian aesthetic is quite pleasant to look at and has always meshed well, so it ends up working in the games favor often.

Some boss fight video in case you were wondering if a game like this can have bosses. It can, and they're pretty fun. Definitely the final boss is the highlight of them all, but I can't post them because it's too spoilery.

The visuals are way too busy for me. I can't tell what the hell is going on. Seems kinda cool, though.

This one and the boss one is more legible, yeah, although still a lot of weird flashes and stuff. Very Risk of Rain-ish.
These newer games make me feel like an old man because all the flashing and explosions everywhere leave me confused.

It's because they completely fucked up the basics of background and foreground separation (which seems to be a lost art these days) -- the characters are dull and unremarkable, while backgrounds are bright, flashy and also animated, completely the opposite of what it should be.

I'm guessing this is neigh impossible to play on a controller, right? It does look kind of interesting though.

Yeah, I tried playing it on a controller at first and it seemed pretty good up until I got to the first training room. At that point it told me there was a record and I saw on the achievements tab one for beating that record and soon enough I realized that with the slightly more inaccurate controller aim I wouldn't be able to pull off that achievement. But it's pretty intuitive on the mouse when you actually get down to playing with it. In retrospect even though I died a bunch on legend it was still way easier than any of the Lunatic runs I've been trying to do.
