fairouz ai appreciation post

i looked up ballpark's blondfang because she sounded familiar, and it turns out her seiyuu has been surprisingly prominent in /qa/ terms
she's best known for her role as jolyne but seems to be quite comfortable when it comes to rough girls in general, although as you can see she has some interesting range

I might just be imagining it, but Precure seems like a great way to launch your career into the big leagues. It did wonders for Lala, the official voice of /qa/.

this will take me more effort than I have right now, but surely I can name a few

 No.6502

I can't really join in on the discussion because I've never felt too attached to seiyuus and am mostly interested in my native language's old VAs, but I really like rough, raspy girl voices. Pikachu's seiyuu in the role of that recent Pokemon villain girl isn't the best example, but it's the closest I can think of right now, at least in some scenes.

 No.6504

I know there's a handful of VAs I like, but can't seem to remember who they are. Only one I remember is Ichinose Kana, she has this one quirk that I like, its the way she pronounces the consonants(?) succession. Can't find an example for it, but it's stuff like なな、まま、etc. A similar example I've timestamped in the youtube link. The way she says "deshidesu", it's fast but the pronunciation is very crisp.

Horie Yui has been the seiyuu for some of my favorite characters and listening to her voice is unbearably cute.
Just listen to Ayu and Suzu and you will understand, uguu〜
She's also been at it for almost thirty years and still active, that's pretty impressive.

she also played chika in kaguya-sama at the same time
and shamiko a few months later, 2019 was a good year for her

I started a new series yesterday without knowing she was in it and recognized her voice immediately in the first episode because of how crystal clear, bubbly and adorable she was. It's nice to be a fan.

I don't really follow seiyuu for the most part, but whenever a voice stands out to me in recent anime, it's often Tomoyo Kurosawa, Chiwa Saito or Yume Miyamoto. Maybe I have a thing for lower registers and more naturalistic acting.
I also recently learned that Osanai's seiyuu also voices/sings Tomori in MyGO/Ave Mujica and it's kind of blowing my mind because their characters are almost polar opposites despite the surface level ASMR gimmick they share in common.

And the more I listen to Megumi Hayashibara as Nyaoha/Nyarote/Masquernya in Pokemon 2023, the more I realize how much of a prestige job it is to be cast as a mascot character in that show. Imagine your job description is "Cover the full range of human emotions by meowing for 100+ episodes. A multi-billion toy line depends on this. No pressure."

Recurring SHAFT seiyuu are almost cheating, except they're consistently good, so maybe they should get to make the rules.

I like when there's newer Seiyuu that capture my interest immediately when I hear them on a main role. Like with everyone on Asobi Asobase (one of them is the /qa/ voice!), Izumi Fuuka as Utena in MahoAko, and now Mikawa Haruna as Satoko in NinKoro. Her more deadpan-ish delivery at times combined with a tinge of malicious pleasure is a nice treat for the ears.

Also what the hell I didn't even realize Kana Hanazawa was Konoha until I looked it up now, she actually wasn't instantly recognizable for once.

Mostly for Natsume, Anzu, and Yoshika. I've also been watching Symphogear and like Aoi Yuuki's voice for Hibiki more than Madoka. I need to find more anime to watch with her in it.

Chiwa Saito is crazy talented. I often look up VAs only to see she voiced someone and sounded nothing like her other roles I've heard. I like Tomoyo Kurosawa too. She was good as Shakugan in Sengoku Youko recently. I'd love to hear her voice Phos later in Houseki no Kuni.

I didn't make that image but I had to look to find one that had Natsume on it so maybe some of the others had her on it.
