I'm finding this show quite... bland, but I don't mean that as a negative. It doesn't feel "anime-like" if that makes sense, especially when you remove the usual CGDCT interactions from the equation - much of the first episode and the latest one felt like a regular travel show that my mother might watch in her free time. I'm not surprised that this is autobiographical.

But again, that's not necessarily a bad thing. If anything, at least it's a pretty nice show to watch while eating.

Yeah, i had to pass on this because it felt too bland, especially compared to all the other shows that i probably won't have time to watch all of anyway. Still...
>a regular travel show that my mother might watch in her free time
I don't really watch traveling shows normally, but knowing my own mother i think i get what you mean... probably...
>this is autobiographical
Huh, i never thought about it... but now that i think back to the first, and only, episode i watched it doesn't seem that surprising actually. Wanting to just get up and go somewhere when you're stuck in a rut is something i think about myself every workday...

It feels like a lacklustre version of Mono, given the travel-oriented direction that's going in. And they have about an equal amount of photography, too.

Maybe it's a matter of managing expectations, but I'm warming up to Zatsu Tabi more with every episode while I'm getting a bit bored with Mono.
This show is upfront about being a tourism ad and owns it with an earnestness that is kind of refreshing. It has just the right amount of establishing shots, anticipation talk and little disappointments to capture the experience of traveling, and Chika is the kind of inexperienced but easily impressed introvert I can relate to even if the character writing is nothing special, so it's almost like watching a travelogue of places I will never get to visit. That, and it has the best food porn this season.
Meanwhile, Mono is about Afro's self-insert and a bunch of girls who don't feel like they have much agency because they keep getting dragged along for a ride that isn't really about them or their interests.

What can I say? I'm a big fan of plants in the lamiaceae family, particularly mint and salvia divinorum, so I try to sneak them into every post I cook up to see if anyone notices.

I've had the same reversal of opinions. Zatsu is built from the ground up to showcase the destinations and the experience of going to random places to see what they have to offer. mono is like those chapters of Kirara series where the author wants a break and just puts their vacation photos through a filter for that month's chapter, only that's the entire series after the initial setup. It's a total waste of the characters and the travel stuff feels like a filler montage rather than an actual journey.

Oh. I think this might be the other main reason i picked mono over this one. While i often feel like wanting to get away, i don't have much interest in actually traveling to random places, so this attraction point is kinda lost on me, and probably explains why i didn't feel much interest to continue it. Meanwhile, mono feels more visual and expressive and i do really like the yurucamp/mono art style... so i think i'm starting to get why you might pick this anime over mono, while i didn't.
>Mono is about Afro's self-insert and a bunch of girls
It's really hasn't been shying away from that, has it? Heh... honestly though, this and a few other issues has made mono lost a bit of it's edge for me.
So in the end, the "food for the soul" anime about "nothing" has kind of become the anime i'm looking forward to the most right now out of these three. Even though that was one i was the most doubtful about at the beginning of the season.

...w-what? I'm not OP's mom if that's what you're implying.
