mono has really fallen off a cliff, huh? I was hoping last episode was an outlier, but now we're back to hag tourism and montages and doing fucking nothing with the cameras. They've done in a few episodes what it took Yuru Camp several seasons to do and now it just the third place girls eat food and travel show this season.

You got a problem with tourism, bub?

It's an honest depiction of the lives of Japanese girls.

The only good tourism anime is that Nagoya cat one. It made me want to visit Nagoya, but getting there by train from Tokyo or Osaka was apparenly a bit of a hassle according to the show.

do people actually watch topical cgdct for the actual topic?

It is strange how it abandoned the camera thing since that seemed like a unique hook. I feel bad that I recommended it to someone with a camera hobby in a /qa/ thread, but he did say he liked Yuru Camp so this is still very similar to it.
I'm also not a fan of "tourism anime" since I'm not the target demographic for it. The characters and subplots are still fun even if they breach into real life too much for my preferences.

If I didn't want the topic, I'd watch iyashikei.

Good thing we passed on the other tourism show.

I wouldn't say it has really fallen off, i'm still enjoying it, but it does feel like it's detracting from the main photography theme to focus on the mangaka, and various offshoots of that, a bit much.

Remind me, exactly how well did that tourism ad funding go, miss snake?
>>6086
Oh, i loved yatogame-chan! I admit i didn't get many of the specific references, but it was fun, and i quite enjoyed the accents in it. It was the first anime that really got my eyes up about the different areas and accents in Japan.

Yeah hearing accents in anime is great and I wish more shows had them. I think accents give characters a lot more personality and it helps with making them stand out more, but at best we'll get a joke character from Kansai while the rest speaks in standard Tokyo-ben. It's apparently a cultural thing in Japan to not speak with an accent outside of one's hometown.

I like An-chan's eyelashes

In Chihayafuru one of the main male characters has a distinct Fukui accent.
The vowels are a bit drawn out like an American Southerner would.

To be fair, mono is only 1/3rd of a show.

That was me and it's fine, not your fault. I really love traveling and in particular driving around Japan's countryside and it's not really doing much for me unfortunately; there's too much overlap between it and Yuru camp. It's still enjoyable and I'll keep watching it but it seems to be falling short of its potential.

>>6086
I don't know about regional Nagoya but Nagoya city is on the main shinkansen line between Tokyo and Osaka. This is a photo I took from Inuyama (heh) Castle a few years ago albeit on my phone. I guess it doesn't have as many big flashy tourist attractions as other cities, but that doesn't mean there's nothing there.

I feel like people romanticze Japanese areas way too much. An example is your image which I swear could have been taken in 20 different spots around here within a 30 minute drive. Mt Fuji and stuff, sure, that's cool, but man I can't relate to these travel shows where I look at different types of square buildings or pools of water.

Yeah, it really does make them stand out a little more. It kind of immediately tells something about who they are without them having to explain it, even though i'm far too inexperienced with japanese to be able to tell if it's from osaka, nagoya or some other area when i hear an accent.
And it really is a shame it's so underused, but i just happily enjoy it when i notice a character with an accent.
Also, i kind of ended up watching the okinawa girlfriend accent anime because of it. Also, i remember the teppen anime having a noticeable accent on several characters.
>>6105
I think that's what the anime talked about actually. I don't really remember, but i think they said something about that some train lines skipped stopping at nagoya city or something like that. But maybe not the main shikansen line then, or maybe it was just certain times or something.

Inuyama was a good place to visit. When on it and on the way up it you get a great sense of how sensible a spot it was to put such a defensive fortification.
I have some photos of it too but mine are all in that stupid HEIC format so I've given up on ever being able to find them.

>I feel like people romanticze Japanese areas
this tbh
Japan looks virtually indistinguishable from the rural countryside of my home.
It's more or less the exact same. Sure there's some neat geographical features here and there like the Kofu basin, but overall it is much nicer here. The landscapes aren't really what's exciting, it's really more about a sort of yamatodamashii. Because it does feel different in the Japanese countryside. Here everything is shiny and nice and developed, but Japan is old and rundown, yet well-maintained. It's a very different feeling.

And suddenly a spirit possession subplot that tangentially relates to the theme because spirit photography...
At least the new girl is cute.
