What's it called when you watch something and enjoy it the first time around but for the sequel it's the exact same thing but you're just not feeling it. Because that's how I feel with Slime 300 part deux. It's getting me to watch it enough I guess but I'm not really feeling all that much. Is it just that there's increased competition this season that's pushing it out of mind or has the anime reclined without me realizing it? I think I should be enjoying this more.

some sort of term for "stale formula" I'd figure

Tough Act To Follow

Could also be early signs of Flanderization

 No.5744

I'm not sure if there's a term. The loss of novelty combined with the difficulty of writing for the same characters over and over leading to a drop in quality is quite standard.

This happened to me with Yama no Susume Next Summit and I couldn't find any specific fault in it, I just wasn't feeling the same magic anymore. I was kind of devastated and I blamed myself.

It happened to one punch man as well because the entire team who worked on s1 left for other projects and didnt do s2

That's not the exact same thing though that's a completely different thing.

the lolis seemed a bit more mature in Next Summit and there were a bunch of boring new characters that added nothing and wasted screen time

 No.5770

The main issue with this series specifically is that most of the appeal is in the setup amd the early stages of the setting developing. It's fun to see people coming together and reactions to the main character, but once everything is established it is just less interesting.

Outstaying its welcome.

Or, in this case, growing some taste.

I don't think my taste has changed that much... but looking at the season it wasn't as though it was anything exceptional. Spring 2021 was a pretty solid season.

Actually it's crazy that it's been 4 years now since 4.0... Still feels like it came out just yesterday.

I'll never forget making a scene in the theater when they started namedropping "the neon genesis" and having to be escorted out.

I'm still greatly enjoying it. I guess with the ever-growing cast it sort of hinges on which characters you like, since some of them barely get a minute of screentime per episode. I'm a Beelzebub guy so I'm happy.

Oh god, why did you have to remind me about Osamake?
