Hah! I thought that Azu-Azu would be the standout, but the rest of the girls serve to make it a riot as well. Some real cunty gossiping going on here.
>>5777Yeah I can see where it'd lose people if they weren't paying attention as some of the more tongue in cheek lines would be missed for what they are.
No.5804
>>5800It's a bit strange in that it deals with teenage girl bullshit drama seriously while at the same time mocking it. It's actually pretty clever how it can highlight how things like follower count can mean the world to one girl while anyone even a single step removed from the situation realizes how pointless and stupid those concerns are.
The frog is pretty clearly a riff on kyuubey, but his mundane ways of taking advantage of their ignorance make him a much better representation of social and business constructs that promise big things and then nickel and dime people into functional slavery through the fine print. His thing about how hiring a bunch of mediocre people is more reliable than trying to search out someone talented is one of the most corporate things I've ever seen.
No.5862
>>5804He really is a great corporate exec stand-in. Absolutely no sympathy towards the girls or a shred of altruism in his body. But also it kinda feels like he serves as the author's way of making social commentary through calling out the girls on their behavior. Instead of letting the case of who used the mapo go on for long he almost immediately used the opportunity to rip into Mai for trying to feign ignorance and let the situation pass over.
On a meta level I do wonder how much of this was meant to be satirical given it's a Sunrise Idol-ish anime and they haven't done much in this vein before. But maybe that also makes them best poised to make the perfect vapid girl satire. It's certainly not making the girls appealing or trying to show off their good traits, all of them are deeply flawed in some regard or another. Even pink who would normally be the role model is nearly Kafuka levels of optimistic and that's not a trait you give the lead in sincerity.

>>6284I think it was more about superficiality and how it's fundamentally incompatible with anything real, especially in reference to influencers. Retrogamer-chan read way too much into the relationship when it was really just her getting used for material gain and becomes completely obsessed with supporting her """friend""" to the point of draining her entire magic bank account, stealing from her actual friends to get more, and giving away her own hard-won gains just to see her oshi succeed in internet popularity contests.
Yua is a reprehensible person, but she recognizes that she's a selfish cunt who doesn't have a single genuine desire or goal. That's why she never makes a real wish, everything she does is just going through the motions. And she feels put off when her cynical manipulation of someone creates real feelings of support because she feels guilty for being so successful and can't deal with someone who thinks she has a goal and is really pushing for her to succeed in it.
The optimistic take is that she ended up accepting Mai's feelings as a fan and reset things so she could restore the proper distance necessary for this relationship and start working on chasing goals in earnest instead of just doing it for the ego boost of big numbers. But it also clearly shows that both sides of this system are absolutely toxic as fuck and actually healthy relationships of friends playing vidya together (like guys would do) are lost forever because of this stupid girl bullshit. Their kind should never have been given social media.

¥ smartest and most capable girl is the one who wants to waste her life away on a retarded addiction instead of improving herself
Also it's totally unrealistic that she's into 'tubers but not on any social media platforms.
No.6678
>>6672Ugh, why can’t she just get with the times and accept social media. She seriously already is literally using it to donate to and watch her comfort vtubers. Seriously
muri!
No.6695
>>6678I think it's just because her parents shelter her from that stuff and make her focus on more meaningful things. She's clearly hiding her eceleb obsession from them and seemed totally ignorant of social media junk in the past. Unfortunately, you can only protect your kids from their own bad habits for so long.

I really love how it draws you in by treating all this bullshit seriously only to flip it around and show the dark side without missing a beat.

>>7272That was... certainly not what I expected.
>>7362But...
she'd only been there for a day or two and suggested the fireworks before even the suggestion was shot down. I was kinda expecting maybe a bit more of a development there like a gradual buildup to the blowup instead of character who gets 5 minutes of screentime betrays everyone right after being revealed...
