i have no idea what you're talking about

This season has made me pay more attention to what’s going on than I was during the first and it’s making me regret not giving it my full attention originally. Osanai is such a fascinating character and the dialogue probably surpasses Monogatari, things are actually moving too which gives the otherwise mundane setting quite the intrigue.
At some point I really need to rewatch the whole thing.
No.5427
>>5423>At some point I really need to rewatch the whole thing.Yeah, same. Especially Osanai, there were probably signs of her stopping her norm act in the first season too. Such a well done mysterious creature.
No.5432
>>5423I think I'll have to return to S1 as well. Watching it the idea you get is that what was pulling Kobato away from normality was his knack for pursuing mysteries, but if the real antithesis was Osanai's unrepentant abnormality, well, we'll have to see how this develops.
No.5599
>>5598Osanai-san wouldn't do something like that. Look how small and cute she is!
No.5601
>>5598She basically gave herself away in the latest episode. Surprised redhead fag didn't realize it was his girlfriend the moment he learned where the fire had taken place.
Is this all Osanai's plot to have Urino take the blame? What is she doing this for? So she can burn the van without making it seem like that was the sole purpose of the burnings? This show's really good.
No.5602
>>5601I was surprised by that too. It seemed almost like teasing and begging to be caught on Osanai's part, but maybe in her own way she's toying with what she thinks to be the limits of Urino's investigative ability. Remember this guy read one paper and came up with his conclusion for the arson. That's one thing I need to go back and look at again though, were the first and second real arson by Osanai or just a coincidence? I think I'm leaning more towards by Osanai given the timetable of 9 months since Kobato's been dating the norm chick. Plenty of time for her to set up her plan and hear from Urino about the arson hazards. Although she really was treading on thin ice with the call this episode, it may cause some issues soon.
>So she can burn the van without making it seem like that was the sole purpose of the burnings?I think this is what I'm leaning towards as well. But then why continue afterwards? I missed who the bikes were from if it was stated but maybe that might explain things as well.
No.5603
>>5602>why continue afterwardsTo hide it in the middle of other unrelated arsons, is my thinking. Starting with the van would bring up suspicion, ending with the van could bring up suspicion, but if it were in the middle of a lot of similar cases, it wouldn't be as suspicious.
No.5684
>>5602>But then why continue afterwards?Because the actual arsonist has their own motives, Osanai was just encouraging the idea and slipped at least one of the targets in there. It's either friend-kun doing it so the newspaper has stuff to write about or a firefighter upset the stations aren't taking his drill schedule seriously. She's just keeping an eye on things, but right now she's mirroring Kobato in that they're both playing mind games with their partner just for the fun of it.
No.5726
>>5684Oh, huh. I actually hadn't considered that. Osanai stringing along the actual arsonist as well to do her dirty work does sound like a plausibility. Maybe even moreso than her starting the fires herself since she can't be tied down directly to anything for it.
No.6878
I guess I was wrong, and perfectly mislead just like Urino. Think I'll have to go back and watch to see if the clues were there from the start.
No.6880
>>6878Well, the one clue that allowed Kobato to narrow down the culprit to those 40 or so was the trap he laid with the newspaper. The thing to go check would be if that was previously shown, which I assume it was. The one with book's versions definitely wasn't.
But I think it would be a mistake to look at it as if it were a traditional mystery to be solved, rather than a purposeful diversion. The real point was the characters of Kobato and Osanai, and there weren't any hidden parts there. We saw the attempt at a kiss, we just didn't get the necessary insight into Osanai's mental state before last episode's talk.
No.6883
We got played like Urino did and we didn't even get to try to kiss Osanai.
The original duo is back together, what kind of mystery will they be solving now? This felt like the end of a season, but we've still only reached the middle (hopefully).
>>6880>The one with book's versions definitely wasn'tIf you're talking about the fire station lists, Kobato has talked about it in one of the previous episodes.
But yeah, there was no way for the viewer to not follow what they gave us as a lead. Most of the mystery solving Kobato did was something only someone in-universe could do.
No.6886
>>6883>the fire station listsYes, correct, those were prominently brought up, but we didn't know there were any differences between editions. What he revealed this episode was that it had to be the one from six years ago, although that was only the start of his investigation.
>This felt like the end of a season, but we've still only reached the middle (hopefully).I did a search for the number of episodes, but not even Jap sources seem to know how many episodes this season will have. Hopefully more than S1's 10.
No.6952
>>6886>What he revealed this episode was that it had to be the one from six years agoHe already mentioned this several episodes ago, which meant it had to be someone close to Urino who either saw the list at his house or was following his paper (this possibility was hinted at by Cocoaman, but we just have to assume the first few instances matched up out of pure coincidence). It was overwhelmingly obvious the friend was involved, but it was so obvious I was convinced there had to be another layer behind it that involved Osanai-san.
It's kind of disappointing that a mystery that spanned half a season and a year of in-universe time was something this simple, but I guess the point was to shame us for not understanding the true nature of Osanai-san's insanity.
