I only played Shadow of Chernobyl and even then I wasn't really good at it

From what I've heard it's poorly optimized and you need a beefy computer to run it, so maybe it's best to wait for fixes. That might just be the complainers crowding out the people that have the game working for them, though.
A few years ago I downloaded Stalker and some mod packs because of that one anime that was loosely based on it (Otherside Picnic?), but never got around to playing it. I'm just not a huge fan of horror/scary stuff, but I do love mysterious stuff and exploration.

it's typical slavjank, took them years to get the previous games to mostly working state so this being a fucked mess on launch is to be expected

I love stalker, but I've heard that this new one is buggy and runs poorly. I probably won't be able to run it on my machine, so I will wait.

Haven't tried it yet but I hope I can at least run it on low once they have rolled out a few patches.

I purchased the original games earlier this year but haven't played them yet. I'm interested in the setting but a bit worried about jumpscares.

STALKER doesn't have jumpscares. It's more just the atmosphere and ambiance that can be a little creepy.

I expected jank, but Stalker 2 is practically unplayable and a-life, the main selling point of the game to me, seems to be severely gimped.
they also switched to UE5 instead of their in-house jank engine and aren't a small indie dev anymore so i expected more quality control.
I'll wait for a year or so until it is playable i guess
