Played DD2. Some fps issues in the main city, and at infrequent moments out in the world, but aside from that was at a frequent 60+ with RTX on. From what I can see the whole "Mostly Negative" thing on steam is from people getting outraged over mtx that are basically the same thing that Capcom's done in all their other games and people that have more major performance issues. Aside from that I've been having a lot of fun, the game's good. Opening isn't as bombastic as the first though so some people may take issue with that, and there's a bit of minor nitpicks that people may have, but on the whole it's still the same good DD gameplay that people know and love. Supposedly with a much longer story and bigger map if leaks are to be believed.

I made a Fern pawn as you can't make loli ones anymore so Schierke wasn't possible. She got a fair bit of usage so far.

Video game prices are actually kind of good when you think of inflation. There were NES games were like $50-60 and SNES games could reach $70 or more. Although, back then you had a nice cart and booklet and could resell it if you wanted so it's not a 1:1 comparison. I think a major game having the $70 price tag will be a test to see how the prices are moving forward. They'd certainly sell more if it was $50, so will the extra $20 for fewer customers make up for it?
I would have bought it instantly if it was $50, but at this price point I really have to wait and see what people are saying and how long it is and even then it's a tough sell.

 No.121926

>>121924
It's not a test, publishers already decided to make that the standard and are pushing to normalize the new price point with consumers. They know you don't have a choice if you want to play their big titles and will make excuses like "oh, actually these prices are good because inflation" to justify letting yourself get screwed over. It's the same shit as OP going "oh, well the predatory mtx aren't a reason not to buy the game because all their games have predatory mtx". Every time you cave, you ensure they'll do it again.

>the predatory mtx
That's where you take and twist my words to misinterpret my meaning. The mtx in this are NOT predatory and in no way does the game show a design choice to make the purchasable currency meaningfully rare or time consuming to procure such that the label of 'predatory' would apply. What they are, are a kuso attachment by the publisher as a stupid tax for people that want to play the game with their wallets rather than actually playing. Everything advertised as dlc besides the dumb DS2 style "improved starter weapons" are easily attainable ingame. I don't like it so I'm not buying it, but the obvious thing here is that there are people that buy them in all the other games that Capcom's put it into such that they keep doing it.

You're right, it's fine to give the publishers your money because it's just the publishers who are trying to nickel and dime their customers! Besides, only dumb kids are stupid enough to actually pay extra money beyond the extra $10 they added to the base game, so they're not actually preying on anyone!

I do boycott all predatory mtx games, but I don't consider the mtx in this predatory. Go fuck yourself I'm not gonna prostrate myself to you and not play a fun game because of morals I don't agree with. I don't play P2W mmos, I don't play gacha, I don't play mobile games. Wasn't Monster Hunter World way worse in this regard? Why are people surprised that a game in a similar style like DD2 has some cosmetic stuff too? I'm looking at the "content for this game" thing on steam and the list for MHw is endless compared to DD2.

I already lost two tardpawns to the water before even reaching the city. Is that a lore thing that they don't have a self preservation instinct? And I can't figure out how to "truck" and "pedestal" (I looked those terms up) the camera in photo mode.

>>121937
yeah, but things don't get any less uncool just because they are to be expected. In Monster Hunter Rise I had a flippin BUY THIS CONTENT banner on the title screen once and to add insult to injury it was a super low resolution image too. So yeah Monster Hunter is worse. Has there been any talk of mods? I'm pretty sure it's using the same engine as previous Capcom games, which is uhh... RE Engine I think? The first DD was a huge pain to mod because they put so many parameters inside what was basically an archive file with a bunch of separate stuff in it and meant you needed to know how to edit it OR download premade collections of alterations.

Capcom put a second layer of DRM in their games now explicitly to prevent modding of any sort. I'm pretty sure it got cracked right away, but they obviously want to make it as hard as possible. Capcom is dropping the ball MASSIVELY recently. It's not just limited to DD2. Exoprimal was so bad that no one even remembers it happened anymore. They are more worried about making sure their games are safe for Westerners rather than trying to put out a good game.

I meant that they are Westernizing their games and removing any Japanese elements to pander to the West. This was pretty evident since DmC. DMC5 was a good game in comparison, so they 'kinda' learned from that mistake, but it was still undeniably Westernized.

These days the potential for non-AAA games is much higher than AAA, so someone leaving a company can be a boon to future games. AA should probably be the standard when it comes to big releases, with "indies" serving as the vanguard for niche stuff that can explore more options.

There's a big patch out that seems focused on fixes and balance. I was waiting for something like this, but was beginning to lose hope in such a thing. I'm not sure how fat this would go in fixing everything, but it's good that they looked at it.

Looks like it added a new "Casual Mode' difficulty which I don't have any interest in, but I have to wonder why this is part of a difficulty choice:
>Less Stamina expended when dashing outside of battle.

How does that relate to difficulty at all? I remember in the first one, PC had mods to eliminate stamina use for running outside of combat. It offers no combat benefit, it just lets you move around the map faster. Pure quality of life.

Doesn't really seem like it does much if it's just minor tweaks and adjustments to everything. What the game really needed was increased variety of monsters and more boss monsters to fight. Also more natural means of movement and less fast travel. Then with such a huge island some more exploration rewards would've been great. The classes in terms of skills needed a bit more spice to them too.
