the artist's feeling is that going from an already-fatard baseline (1) to very fat (10) is good, but going from flat (0) to fat (1) is bad

The way I understand it is that it's alright if girls with standard bodies get drawn fattened up for more fetish potential, but it's not for lolis and / or flat chests because that's part of their appeal, therefore drawing them differently is bad? Kind of like removing a character's ahoge or drawing a kudere with emotions.

Obviously it's evil. On one range you're just getting fatter. In another you are turning something good into something fat. It's just not right.

in normal circumstances I'd agree, but unicorn single-handedly changed my entire worldview. She used to be flat but I'm guessing throughout the updates she grows up or whatever.
It might be simply because she's perfect though.
This also heavily depends on whether the character design would work with different breast sizes. Same with how a person's hair color would make you look weird and different if it doesn't really match the rest of your look, characters innately look like they should have flat or large breasts. unicorn is perfect with both, if she existed in a superposition of flat and large, i would know that god exists and he brings miracles.
The biggest sin though? Taking a character that either has large breasts or is flat and making it average size. the average-sized-breast faction is the enemy.
