everything i know of british cuisine is pretty much just war food. Things that you would eat under ration

It's dishonest propaganda. British food is by no means excellent but it really isn't terrible.
Britain got industralized earlier so some of the better types of food from the early modern era are more forgotten, and it was the first country to experience the horrors of industralized food production but actual traditional British food is pretty good. It's on the level of Brazilian cuisine I'd say, nothing too excellent but it gets the job done.

well even solid classics like full english and the sunday roast just look like a bunch of separately-cooked ingredients haphazardly thrown on a plate, it doesn't really give the impression of being a single dish more than any random collection of food would be
it's kinda basic, a lot of meat, not a whole lot of personality, but cottage/shepherd's pie is godtier and i do love black sausage (morcilla vasca is one of my favorite foods, an agridulce version)

For a maritime culture, there's a distressing lack of fish dishes

>>83753>a bunch of separately-cooked ingredients haphazardly thrown on a plateThis is the best kind of dish and no amount of culinary snobbery will convince me otherwise. It does admittedly make claims of any particular collection being national cuisine dubious, though.
