It's all well and good to call something cancer and be done with it, but it does nothing to convey the meaning behind the word.
They're camwhores farming their "fans" for donations, but they take it a step further by putting on a 2D idol facade to appeal to Otaku. Just like with idol culture, it cultivates the same type of ravenous tribals that lose their marbles over drama and make whatever online space they congregate in a shithole. This is not even mentioning the stalking of their vtubers or perceived "rival" vtubers. Gachas are also reprehensible in their practices, but you at least get something back from the money you dump in the pit.

You don't. You have to stretch pretty hard to even consider it an extremely inefficient way to get good artists to draw pictures of characters you like. If I had to defend gachashit in relation to vtumors, I'd say that at least gambling addictions only ruin the lives of those with the addiction while parasitic relationship addictions reach the people around the addicted individuals too.

Considering it like addiction isn't fair because there's no one to one reward on payment. It's overpaying for a product by using the thrill that you might get something that is very valuable for cheap. No one who's broke would be saying "I gotta win this pull to get out of poverty"

Yes, it would be better to just commission an artist or use AI to generate art from the game's artist, or just play a VN. I really don't think a simulated stamp collection that is owned and managed by a corporation has any more tangible value to your than a thank you from your simulated girlfriend. It might actually be better to give it to that slut since she might put the money into something actually useful instead of encouraging the continued decline of the gaming industry.
