Animators snuck in nipples into nipple-less Ranma...

Huh. Makes me wonder if it will be colored for the BD since it would be relatively little work.
Probably not, though.

i just started watching this
i was kinda expecting that the ecchi was going to be way toned down but they did the worst of both worlds and went with boobs in full view with barbie doll anatomy which is just downright jarring, i would honestly prefer towels to this

i'm still enjoying it so far but at this point i'm honestly debating just re-watching the originals, besides the censorship the VA cast also won't be all in their late 60s

Ranma was never good(and I never tried watching it)

Ranma's a cute and fun show! I like it!

>>82750
I think I mentioned it in the seasonal stream before it was removed (bleh), but I have a suspicion that the reason it's like this is because of Netflix...

People have also pointed out that they've removed all the stars from caps and that Ranma's overalls no longer say "China" and instead say "Smile". Guess China is too politically sensitive a topic these days...

So you think the original is better then? I haven't watched it but I want to at some point but I don't know which one to watch.

You mention the VAs, are they using the same ones? How does that affect things if they are so old?

I tried to like both versions, but they just put me to sleep and not in a good way. It's a shame, because the girls are indeed nice and it does seem quite silly.

>are they using the same ones?
It's a lot of the main cast. Ranma, Ryouga, Akane, Kasumi, Nabiki, and Shampoo are all original VAs. There's probably more that I'm missing.

>How does that affect things if they are so old?
The female casts' voices do have a bit more bass to them, but they're not dramatically changed. It's still the same voice after all. Ryouga and Ranma's male voice are noticeably deeper though. Either way, I can't imagine it's something many people are going to be thinking about. It's not like a reboot of an old live action TV show where they bring back the old cast and you see just how much they've aged.

>I don't know which one to watch.
I think the scene pacing is better in the reboot, but the animation definitely still holds up in the original. Regardless, the reboot seems to be a faithful adaptation to the manga. Going by the major plot points, the reboot seems to be about twice as fast as the original. That's to be expected though. The original had an 161 episode run with quite a bit of filler, catching up to the manga at times, but it didn't end up getting to the ending of the manga. The reboot seems like it's slated to get at least 12 episodes, but there hasn't been confirmation on whether it'll go longer. If I had to guess, since the reception has been good so far, it may get extended to 24 episodes and then I suppose if BD sales are good it might get a second season with another 24 episodes like the Urusei Yatsura reboot.

I think the consensus is that if you like Ranma, you should probably read the manga, but the anime is different enough in places that it can be worth watching, but that might just be nostalgia from people who saw the anime first talking... So... I'd probably watch the reboot and then pick up the manga if you end up enjoying it and then watch the original anime if love the series and want more Ranma.

Also... I feel a bit bad for having brought up the weird little acts of censorship in the reboot. They're noticeable if you're familiar with Ranma, but I don't think you should really put a lot of stock into people complaining about "barbie doll anatomy" and so forth. That seems to be the main complaint I've seen about the reboot thus far, which as far as complaints go, is relatively minor. I don't think the lack of nipples or removal of references to China should really sway your decision one way or another. And just to be clear, the removal of stuff like the red star is just an animation thing. It's not a retcon and now Ranma actually went to Korea or something silly like that. They still reference China in the dialogue and plot.

hmmmm
i'm on the edge between liking these feet and not liking them
something about the toes bothers me
like there's too much depth in the part between the ball of the foor and the toe beans.
or maybe it's the ankle not being separated enough from the centre of the sole
.. or maybe just the big toe's not big enough so the foot looks like a hand. it's probably that
they have a good overall size and shape aside from these flaws

>>82755
i think you should watch the orignal + ova's and movies regardless of anything i've said for the sole purpose there's just more of it as someone else said and the art and animation quality holds up and who knows how many seasons netflix is going to fund (provided you end up liking it)

>>82756
>You mention the VAs, are they using the same ones? How does that affect things if they are so old?

honestly it all might be highly subjective and possibly just an auto-suggestion in my head caused by reading a news article about how most of the VAs are going to return and thinking "wow, the original ranma aired in like late 80s, just how old are they at this point"
a person voice stars to change due to old age, and while i have nothing concrete to back it up without actually watching the originals again there does seem to be some differences per >>82762 but it's not really something that should discourage you from watching the reboot especially if you never watched the original anyway

Barbie doll bodies usually dont do it for me but for some reason whenever I refresh the front page I keep starting at this pic for minutes
They really shaped it well

any hentai artists that draw boobs like OP? not "barbie doll" types, but the shape itself
ive been getting tired of my hentai artists drawing nipples like theyre a separate entity attached to the boob
