>>82756>are they using the same ones? It's a lot of the main cast. Ranma, Ryouga, Akane, Kasumi, Nabiki, and Shampoo are all original VAs. There's probably more that I'm missing.
>How does that affect things if they are so old?The female casts' voices do have a bit more bass to them, but they're not dramatically changed. It's still the same voice after all. Ryouga and Ranma's male voice are noticeably deeper though. Either way, I can't imagine it's something many people are going to be thinking about. It's not like a reboot of an old live action TV show where they bring back the old cast and you see just how much they've aged.
>I don't know which one to watch.I think the scene pacing is better in the reboot, but the animation definitely still holds up in the original. Regardless, the reboot seems to be a faithful adaptation to the manga. Going by the major plot points, the reboot seems to be about twice as fast as the original. That's to be expected though. The original had an 161 episode run with quite a bit of filler, catching up to the manga at times, but it didn't end up getting to the ending of the manga. The reboot seems like it's slated to get at least 12 episodes, but there hasn't been confirmation on whether it'll go longer. If I had to guess, since the reception has been good so far, it may get extended to 24 episodes and then I suppose if BD sales are good it might get a second season with another 24 episodes like the Urusei Yatsura reboot.
I think the consensus is that if you like Ranma, you should probably read the manga, but the anime is different enough in places that it can be worth watching, but that might just be nostalgia from people who saw the anime first talking... So... I'd probably watch the reboot and then pick up the manga if you end up enjoying it and then watch the original anime if love the series and want more Ranma.
Also... I feel a bit bad for having brought up the weird little acts of censorship in the reboot. They're noticeable if you're familiar with Ranma, but I don't think you should really put a lot of stock into people complaining about "barbie doll anatomy" and so forth. That seems to be the main complaint I've seen about the reboot thus far, which as far as complaints go, is relatively minor. I don't think the lack of nipples or removal of references to China should really sway your decision one way or another. And just to be clear, the removal of stuff like the red star is just an animation thing. It's not a retcon and now Ranma actually went to Korea or something silly like that. They still reference China in the dialogue and plot.
