Western furries add more detail to the face, as is the Western style in general. Big snouts, differently-shaped heads, strange eyes and so on. It looks closer to an animal.
Eastern furries have
no detail in the face, as is the Eastern style in general. It's just an anime girl with a slightly, SLIGHTLY larger black dot for a nose and she might have a non-human skin color like

I think far more people are into kemono because while it's technically furry it doesn't actually look like it. It's like how most monster girls are just regular girls with tails. Nothing monstrous about them.
