yeah it's not mentally possible for me to coordinate my fingers anywhere near that fast. I don't know how people do it

Yes, it's just playing a single chart but showing it on both player sides for demonstration. But there are actual double charts meant to be played with both controllers at once.

IIDX/BMS takes an absurd amount of practice. An hour a day minimum, every day, since 1999 will do the trick.

I still love the game even though I know I can't devote that kind of time to it (especially with how far I have to drive to play and me being too cheap to go buy a proper home controller for PC and my jank-ass homemade one is just that, jank as fuck).

BATTLE is enabled (this is typically for two players to do the same chart, or for one player to practice doing double play without actually needing to be able to read doubles charts yet), so they are both the same.

Yeah, I was pretty into BMS for a while but I never got super good at it or invested in a controller. I'm in the middle of bumfuck nowhere so my chances of even seeing a IIDX cabinet in person are next to zero, and my last attempts as emulating IIDX on my PC failed. I tried out BMS again recently but I'm pretty rusty, and playing on a keyboard just doesn't do the game justice.

I think even if you're not willing to invest a ton of time to get good, you can still enjoy all of the music and BGAs that come out of the community. And just watch the pretty notecharts in autoplay if you really sugg. It's kind of like Touhou in that sense.
