Just how many times can anime be saved?

Bladerunner reference? I've never actually seen Bladerunner but I've seen the 'giant pink face' screenshots a whole lot.

Was waiting to watch it in seasonal stream and... WOW!
That was amazing. It's like they didn't skip a beat in 15 years. So stylish! True beauty of animation and the humor is still great. This is going to be another amazing season.

Episode 6 was fantastic. Much of episodes 3, 4 and 5 bored me to sleep with a single reference that overstayed its welcome and became stale after 5 minutes, much less the 10 to even 15 minutes they would take it to. That's just me, though, maybe.
6, though? Fantastic. Lots of references to different older Western things, but also new story with new characters that were interesting on their own.
I guess the difference is that this was a story with references in it instead of a reference that had a story attached to it. The visuals were fantastic, too.

Also the new rival angels talking with gratuitous Gen Z/A slang was pretty funny. A playful nod to time passing (and yet not really).

Loathed episode 6. Complete fumble, superficially built like the Scanty and Kneesocks episode of the original with almost none of the quality storyboarding and animation follow through that makes that episode so memorable. The only thing they really executed on was the transformation sequences, and I think it's no coincidence those are what worked when it was one of the few things they did that wasn't mining ideas wholesale from S1E6.

Conversely I liked the Jack Kirby episode. It wasn't a single reference. It was never really an empty 'hey hey it's that thing' reference either, it was always being played for actual jokes. Be it lampooning the writing of those old cartoons or their own piss poor animation back in the day.

Episode 8 was pretty great.
Also lately I find myself saying "FACK" outloud to myself when annoyed by things. My brain is being rewired.

They did another parody episode where a 15 second gag is dragged out for 15 minutes. The first part was alright, I guess, it was nice to see some nipples. Breaking the VHS filter out for 15 minutes, though, yeah that's just silly.

>Jack Kirby
thought this was going to be the Discworld cover artist but that's Josh Kirby

After the new boy angels showed up it feels like the gags went downhill. Not enjoying it as much as the earlier episodes.

I've only watched a few episodes this season but yeah I really dislike them. They had a perfect chance to do good gags with them in the cross-dressing episode. But they barely did anything with it.
