No.5292
>>5287Ok, I finished the main ending. I'm a bit confused by the final scene and didn't like the final fight scene too much for similar reasons to why I disliked parts of Heaven's Feel -
characters overcoming adversary just through force of will, but Takumi's sword was pretty cool. I understand this is part of fantasy conflict and I can swallow it, but it could be done a bit more elegantly. The story overall is pretty cool and I hope they tie up a number of loose ends like
the meaning of the Ir2 equasion, the Shougun chatlog disparity, Suwa's involvement, the influence of Gero Froggies etc. in the subsequent routes.
Also, I'm trying to remember the name of a particular VN which features cover art of an angel (?) like girl with long brown hair, eyes closed and praying (?) against a white background surrounded by tentacles. I seem to remember it not being translated and being somehow related or similar to Tsui no Sora.

Btw, I find this game very notable for being the only actually good game out of it and Tsui no Sora, Shizuku, Jisatsu 101 etc.

>>5227Most recently I played Robotics;Notes DaSH and dropped it after two endings.
I appreciate the fanservice etc. but the two character routes so far were rather shit, especially my girl Frau-bo's was very disappointing.
Maybe I'll get back to it but I don't have high hopes

The memory mini game was pretty fun and I really enjoyed the extra Mizuki content. I wish there'd been more of him though...

Hmm, was debating it for a bit since there's two VN threads but I guess I'll go ahead and move this to /amv/ too and the older one can just sit there as the old thread.

>>5256I recently finished Hayazaki no Kuroyuri. It has no ero, but I thought the whole text input system was pretty cool. A bit of a pain in the ass as I prefer novels with minimal choices so I can just focus on reading, but it had an interesting synergy with the story and wouldn't be the same without. The story is really the most interesting part about this novel and it's not very romance heavy so I'm comfortable recommending it to people who aren't total yurifags. It's a good fit for yurifags anyways. It's completely impossible to talk about the story without spoilers so just read until 第2章 and see if you want to keep going. Shouldn't take you too long to get there and if you do you're probably already hooked.
Official English translation end of 2025 as far as I know. JP/CN/KR only for now.

She's a bit tryhard. Lovably tryhard but she says the things she does oftentimes for the fun of the reaction.
Whereas Taku tries NOT to elicit reactions.

I've played a bit of Little Busters but only come back to it infrequently. I'm pretty new to VNs, but want to play Sanarara because of Aoki Ume's involvement. Haven't been able to find a download for it though.
Didn't realize the Steam version of Little Busters (and other VNs on Steam) had cropped art though to get to 16:9. Was disappointed about that.

I just completed the true end on After Story (Clannad). I really really liked it, it was sad and though at times, and the themes of the game hit me hard - as issues Clannad focus on - is very much where I am at in life atm. Family, change of time, and love. The first bit, before After Story is a rather long one, but I would still say I enjoy most of the routes. It took me 80-90h~
I did see the anime around 2012, and well - i liked it back then, but i would say Clannad is even better as I 've matured.
I also finish Lttle Buster before Clannad, and that game was insane - took me 160h for some reason... The cropped art was a little annoying at first but i got used pretty fast. I did little buster, but i would say i liked Clannad a lot more. Nagisa vs. Rin, and i find Nagisa 2 be cuter ^^
That said, Wafuu~~ Kud is cutest!

On vndb it says the game is fully translated and edited, but they are currently "waiting on build", whatever that means.

>>6062Yeah, it's been like that for years I'm pretty sure. I don't know if it will ever be released. I'm open to reading it in Japanese but it seems like I'd have to find a way to buy the actual physical version or find an official download wherever you could buy it on a Japanese site.
Though I also saw that it has mosaic censoring, because of course it does, and as far as I can tell it doesn't have an uncensored version.

>>10703>FlowersI've been meaning to read this for years now. Started it with the same intentions as you but never got much past the room selection phase.
They use a lot of ojou-sama phrases which is bound to be advanced, don't know how anyone would label it as easy. Maybe easier than Chuuni.
Not specific to Flowers but I don't think I'll ever complete a VN. I can play one for hours, but the moment I take a break I don't feel like continuing ever...

It's time. I once played this, but was it was interrupted due to family stuff and I never got back into it, but I swore I would one day when I could disconnect the game from that fun mental trauma stuff. Well, it's time I think. I know the music is amazing and I even played the Vita sequel-to-a-sequel... until fate again intervened and my Vita died while I was halfway through it. I don't know why the universe conspired against me so much when it comes to the
Ar Tonelico series, but I know I have total adoration for Gust's stuff and I know the series has legendary music that defines a little niche of geekdom the way it does for Atelier fanatics and stuff. I remember seeing threads for this back on 4/jp/.
I've listened to the music occasionally and I know it has a host of CDs out there, but listening to music without being connected to the source material just feels wrong to me.
You've got Gust in its prime, a quasi-VN experience with dating elements and fantastic music. Yeah, this is what I need.
And the really crazy news? The prequel on Vita received a fan translation just this year. For some reason they only officially translated and released the sequel to that prequel. I'll need to get a Vita or PSTV soon and the prices of both will only continue to climb unfortunately. Vita emulation is still not great.
And yes, people do consider these to be VNs just as Utawarerumono is a VN despite having lots of gameplay:
https://vndb.org/v700I'm already aware of the translation fix patch for the second one and I'm using an undub for this one (although I think English dubs from the 90s and 00s are kind of charming) so I've got everything ready to go!
No.13223
>>13222You're in for a ride.
I've picked up the series after hearing some of the songs, specifically xaaaci and method_alteration which i just randomly caught on r/a/dio. The accompanying art made it difficult to predict what I was getting into since I went out of my way to not read too much.
Two things: make sure to play the retranslated patch for the second game, and two, don't be shy about using guides for 100% completion. You won't have a bad experience without a guide, but the games are lengthy JPRGs and there are several routes for each game, most of the content that you might miss is fluff which won't necessarily be enough to entice a second playthrough on the same route.
The first game felt somewhat simplistic and almost amateurish but still very charming and enjoyable, second game is rated highly enough that you'll occasionally see it in top XX lists for JRPGs. Third game took an unfortunate dip in quality, with what between the transition to a new console, going 3D, and a lot of ambitions and plot points that simply didn't have enough time.
Third game is still worth playing but.... Let me warn you here and now. If you have a way to play it on real hardware, I suggest you go for that. At minimum, you need a PS3 controller or controller with 6D gyro because of a certain in-game feature that relies on you shaking the controller.
Last time I played it emulated, I just barely managed to finish it. The audio gets buggy and insane (especially in fights, and the R.A.H dynamic music system was the main or really only draw in the very simplistic combat in the third game), not many graphical glitches but it gets very. VERY crashy and freezy. Certain areas are significantly worse than others, keep this on a note: use savestates and save in-game often. In crash-heavy gameplay areas, defeat all the area enemies until they stop spawning, preferably near the save-point. I don't know if it was coincidence but it seemed to decrease crash chances by a significant amount.
I've played with the emulation settings as much as I could, but you really don't have much choice but to go for high accuracy settings, deal with the lagginess and hope it doesn't crash.
have fun and godspeed.
