>>10481>>10482Going to explain how it works for anyone that doesn't want to watch the video. The guy playing isn't that great anyway.
How it works: You pick whatever car you want from sports cars to firetrucks and city buses (once unlocked). The goal is to drive as fast as you can into an intersection, bridge, highway or other place with a lot of traffic. Sometimes there are ramps you can launch off of. One stage I remember you had to jump a ramp over a large hole to land in the middle of bridge on a highway. There was traffic on it and on the 4-lane highway below it.
You drive away from the starting line. Then you usually need to drive through a turbo boost to get your car up to full speed. Launch off the ramp. Once you're in the air you can control the car's movement slightly by holding down R2 (I think, one of the shoulder buttons). This gives you very minimal movement using the analog stick.
Once you hit a CPU car or 18-wheeler or something the crash starts. Each stage is different but you have to crash a certain number of cars to earn a bomb. Which you can set off by pressing R1. This puts you back in the air and allows you to do minimal movement while airborne to steer your now disabled car wherever you want. Towards on-coming traffic if you missed them on the way through or do bonuses.
On most stages there is a bomb icon, which explodes when you touch it causing massive damage to everything around it including you and sending parts flying everywhere. There are three cash bonus coins. A bronze, silver and gold one. They give you a minimal cash bonus. There are also multipliers. A 2X and on some stages a 4X multiplier. This will multiply you final score.
Your score is based on damage. Each car/truck/18-wheeler you wreck is tallied up based on its value. So nicer cars and larger trucks net you more money. Then your bonuses are applied and then multiplied if you managed to pick those up.
Everyone takes turns on each stage to go for the high score. Then you move on to another stage. I think 5 in total when playing multiplayer. So if you didn't do well on one stage you still have a chance to win over all.
Usually, scores of $100,000 - $500,000 are good scores depending on the stage. But if you're really good it's possible to get a $1 million dollar+ crash. Which almost always means you're going to come in the top three. Since everything has to go perfect to obtain those scores on the stages where they're possible. Sometimes the only way to obtain it is to be perfect with your timing of the bomb you get. Which can send parts off cars like their wheels rolling far away to damage cars in parking lots or other areas you can't normally reach.
You own vehicle is included in the tally. So picking a larger one or one of the later unlocked sports cars which are valued higher is usually a good idea. However, some stages have a really long run-up to the actual crash area. So if you pick something large and slow you might not make it to the crash area on time to take advantage of being larger (so taking up more road). Some cars are easier to move while you're in bomb mode where you can control your movement. Others are harder to turn in mid-air because they're so big.
Anyone can play this and it's really fun. We got a bunch of people that had never played video games before to play and they all enjoyed it. Two of them managed to get $1 million crashes on their first try too.
I hope some of my kissu friends are interested in giving it a try. Even if we can't do online multi-player I encourage you to download this game and give it a try with your friends IRL. I've never met anyone that didn't love crash party mode. Which makes me wonder why they decided to remove it from later games.
