This is an announcement that kissu is official friends with the people at hikari3! Well, we have been for about a week now but things have been busy! Go give them a visit sometime!
https://hikari3.ch/This thread will be used to help coordinate future events and other interactions with them in the future.

>>151878I really REALLY hate them.
They are ugly and antithetical to imageboard culture. People should upload pictures instead and if kissu adds them I will never return. It is not a breath of fresh air to make a site look like a streamer chat, quite the contrary.

Taking suggestions, folks.

I hate emoji in general and they way they're too big for the line and fuck up the spacing frustrates me even more. Even on the 4chan April Fools thing they felt too shitpost-y. I'd sooner post on a liveboard than an emoji board.

It doesn't make their use not bad.
Like the other poster is saying it detracts from imageboards specifically (you should use reaction images). But even outside of imageboards it's associated with a lower level of discourse. You know it wasn't that long ago when even reddit hated emoji? It's bloated nonsense, a whole thing standing out from the text. If you want to express an emotion an emoticon will suffice ;) :P. Even IF you wanna get elaborate, then kaomoji and a wide array of ascii art allow for much more creativity rather than being limited to the emote list.
Happy for the friendship with hikari3 though!

>>152792this isn't surprising when none of the site here are currently coordinating on event planning
there's been ideas floating around of all the admins/staff of these /jp/ adjacent sites working on a common calendar that each site would embed (either on the front page or a separate page). users would suggest events but would not have direct access to modify the calendar to prevent griefing
No.152797
>>152792Yeah, I agree with the other guy in that it's not surprising since Saturday is the safest day for events. I'm not sure how you'd get around it when you have to worry about timezones and people with jobs/school. Friday nights and Sundays can also work, but generally those are the days when things happen. The kissu seasonal stream has been a reliable thing every Saturday since we can't afford to miss one of them or it becomes a giant nightmare the next week.

Is there a way to get the 4chanX thread watcher to work with Hikari? That's about the only thing stopping me from using it.

No.152918
Developers having motivation to work on these things is such a pain. Myself included.
And like anyone could personally create a thread watcher, but lots of people won't use it if it's not tied into one of the main 4chanX projects.
So it's all down to how active the maintainers are towards creating managing the growth of the software and laying out what needs to be done to meet the objectives.
No.152920
>>152919cool, I'll be sure to get right on that when the 4chanXT dev puts out a statement towards paths towards integrating it into his project.

>>152922Pull request sitting there for a hundred years until the project eventually archives... I'd rather not put in wasted effort.
If he's not going to merge the submission or put out a reasonable proposal for integrating other board software then what's even the point. At that stage you might as well try and usurp 4chanX
No.152926
If I were serious about usurping 4chanX then I would just create a better marge.moe and integrate it with a cross site thread wachter with some webworker stuff so that you get obnoxious notificatons whenever there's a new post anywhere on the internet.
I sure wish someone steals my idea so I can instead focus on writting software for kissu instead. You could even stuff it with advertisements probably and no one would blame you for it
No.152927
heck you could probably even use it as a launchpad for other projects you might have in the future. The possibilities are really endless if you could manage to do two things:
- Track posts across all software (use playwright or selenium from the getgo, don't bother with the JSON APIs unless cloudflare is obnoxious)
And Either:
-
Create a serviceworker which will allow users to subscribe to certain threads. (Actually a userscript would do this anyways)
- Create an acompanyment userscript which will get them to send requests into your server regarding posts and threads they make and have the serviceworker send requests back into the given user based on the userscript results. (having these results be encrypted is likely a benefit)
OR:
Use it as a launchpad for your own threadwatcher application which checks for the APIs of various sites, potentially scanning the master site for update lists on each website.
Guess what people will do though... NOTHING... even though this is literally free advertising space and a way to make a grand total of 10 dollars per month

Is the Wakarissu T R I V M V I R A T E still a thing?
No.153485
>>153482Well, yeah. The hikari3 game night thing was a week ago and they (and wapchan) join in games hosted here and streams and stuff. We could do a better way of ostensibly and very publicly doing things together, but that would require stuff like people putting [WAP] in front of their usernames like a clan thing. That's probably too weird for anonymous imageboards.
It's still very early and we're adjusting to higher activity levels and other chaos so things will improve when things become more settled... probably. I guess kissu has its bi-yearly Higurashi watch-along in June so that's something we can plan to share with hikari3 and wapchan people.
