Can you give some tips?
Like what's a good build and all that?

>>114329There's no builds really, you can do anything and everything on a single character. If you want to powergame you can use alts, personally I'm tired of those.
Character power comes from three things, abilities+skills, attributes and gear.
Abilities are increased with learning points you get from finding/crafting curiosities (first pickup of an item also gives some), skills are also bought with those. Good abilities to focus on early are exploration and survival which help you find more and better quality curiosities, after that it's whatever you want. Skills are a bit hard to advise as I get them by feel, just get cheap stuff once surv/expl get too expensive.
Attributes are increased by eating food, going to crafting menu and hovering over food will give you a good idea on how that works. The less hunger it fills and the more fep (food event points) it gives the better basically, and you want to eat different things for the bonus. You want to raise them more or less evenly because the amount of fep you need for a stat increase scales off your bigest attribute. Most important attributes early on are perception (find more stuff) and intelligence (study more curios at the same time). You want to focus on those first and then raise the rest, psyche is a niche stat that you can mostly ignore.

>>114329You should actually start messing around with it now before the world reset. Yeah, your character will get wiped, but the goal is to get the hang of things.
The game is very poorly documented officially, but there's a wiki with a lot of information on it:
https://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Haven_and_Hearth_WikiSome of the information will be outdated, but that's just how it goes. I can't emphasize enough how poorly everything is documented. An important thing to note is that you are VERY weak for a long period of time and need to run away form everything. The combat is honestly quite a bit of a mess, but you don't need to understand it yet.
Also, there are multiple clients- the official one and then those people have made with different (better) ways of doing things. I use the ender client. Looking at the forum thread, the clients will need to be remade so you'll have to download them again once the next world starts.

>>114513I wouldn't say anyone "should". It doesn't matter if you know what you're doing or not if you want to play with us, it's also gonna be easier if you have someone who can answer your questions right then and there.

>>114514Yeah, true, not "should", but you can if you want

On spawning: normally everyone spawns randomly, if you want to spawn near someone they have to build a wilderness beacon, light it and share the keyword.
https://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Wilderness_BeaconI'll be online a few hours after the wipe (I'll post), if anyone is ready to start spawning before then say so in the thread.
Spawning randomly and then running towards each other will take and entire day or may not even be possible depending on how spawns work this time.

>>115002Ah, yeah. This means that new characters shouldn't leave the little starting tutorial area until we're ready to summon them, right?
Also check out this change they just added and will make things so much more enjoyable:
New characters now start at full (10000%) energy.
If energy is below Healing (8000%) when eating, the only effect of eating is to gain energy. FEPs, hunger, satiations &c are only affected when eating while Healing.
The "hard-labor cap" (for digging and mining) has been set to 2500% energy instead of the current 5000%.
If feasting (eating by a table) you always gain both FEPs and Hunger, irrespective of your current Energy. This means people can eat whatever they want to regain energy and not feel penalized for not doing powergamer things with super food just to be able to do things like chop down trees or dig. I may not even have an alt for this now!

The world is open and you can play, but be prepared for server instability that comes with opening day stuff.

>>115013Something you should know is that this game supports people making custom clients that have their own features. I think it was someone else here that recommended me the Ender client and it's what I use.
It doesn't look like it has updated for this world, but I think it should still work, just without updates? I guess we'll have to see how it works. Anyway, here's the forum link with the download and instructions. You use this INSTEAD of the official download:

>>115010Those are pretty great yeah.
>>115024Don't feel like using an untested client. The one it's forked from had some controvercy around it too, I'll wait a bit and use a default one for now.

>>115033So uhh... what do we do again? We both run around looking for a good spot for a temporary base or something?
No.115038
>>115037Yeah. Made a spawner for you, keyword is friends. We can look from there.
Everyone spawns by a thingwall this world it seems so the base should be some distance from one.
