Definitely board. You could MAYBE say people have drawn on cave walls tens of thousands of years ago, but I don't think that really qualifies as an "image". I generally think of an image as something from a camera or digital

Cave drawings are still images, it does not have to come from a camera. But you could go even further, it's possible to have a mental image in which case images would of course always have come first.
