I don't know. Either this whole "fuck" reputation is overblown, or I'm dating a defective Tengu.
We've been seeing each other for a little more than a month now, and she's always been cautious but I can tell she's been growing more attached to me. Just small things she does and how she's been hanging onto my arm when we walk, things like that. Then one day all of a sudden she started acting strange, holding me so tight it hurt and giving one-word replies. I thought she didn't want to look at me, but then when I caught her staring and she turned away, I realized she didn't want me to look at her, for some reason. I asked her if she was okay and she laughed way too hard and said something about having too much work, then fell quiet again.
After dinner, she told me I needed to come to her house with her. I felt pretty nervous about how she was acting, and she looked really serious, so I just went along with it. I was worried she was about to break up with me, but after the trip up the mountain and sneaking past the White Wolves (I'll leave that ordeal out but just know that it took forever), I couldn't see why she would go to all this effort just for that.
When we finally made it inside, she locked the door, shuttered the windows, and ran all around the place checking everything while muttering something about a "damned twin-tailed Kakashi NEET." I'm not even sure what she said, just that she wanted the place totally sealed. I think she even put something heavy on top of the toilet seat. I know she's a Tengu, but it was still crazy to see how fast she could move. It's like she was everywhere at once, re-checking everything at least ten times. Anyway, finally she was done, and she came back to me, still not looking me in the eye. We made some awkward small-talk and she thanked me for dinner, then she finally blurted out:
"I want you to kiss me."
Actually, it was somewhere between a blurt and a whisper. Her voice was small, but what she said felt loud. And it felt really quiet right after she said it. It took a few more uncomfortable and silent minutes but we managed to sit down together, and I closed my eyes. I leaned forward, and right when I felt the heat radiating from her face in front of mine, I was hit with this huge gust of wind. It was actually like a typhoon. It knocked me back and rang my ears but over the noise I could hear:
"BIGSCOOPANOTHERINCIDENTGOTTAGOBYE!"
When I opened my eyes, she was gone, papers were still flying everywhere, and the door was hanging open.
It's been almost a week and I haven't seen her since then. I'm still getting my Bunbunmaru outside my door every morning, and more than ever before I get that familiar "being-watched" feeling that I've grown comfortable with since I met her. I'm a little disappointed I didn't get to kiss her, but part of me feels like what I got was something even better.

I still haven't heard from Aya, but earlier today there were some crows outside, a lot closer than normal. Usually they'll hang out in the treetops a good distance from my house, but today they were practically right outside my door. They didn't seem to mind me getting so close, so I went back inside and grabbed some nuts for them. We spent a few minutes out there, me tossing them snacks and them either eating them or going and hiding them somewhere after they'd had enough. That's when I got a feeling that was just... weird. Like how I described being watched, but this time it gave me pins and needles all along the back of my neck. I looked around and of course couldn't see anything, but I did notice that there was no more wind in the branches. It was completely, utterly, dead silent.
Out of nowhere I got hit with another typhoon. It knocked me on my ass again and the wind was chilly, but somewhere in the cold, I felt something warm on my cheek. And soft. And a little bit wet. I got up and dusted myself off and found that either the crows had managed to steal the whole bag of nuts I had brought out, or the wind blew it off somewhere. Either way it was gone when I looked.
I don't really know what just happened but I think it's progress.
