I've never really thought about anything specific I would do in Gensokyo, I just want to be with my wife and take it easy.

I had read enough fantasy isekai with sensible writers to know I will hate living in a world without any modern plumbing and plumbing technology at all. No official canon on ceramic potties? Sounds like this is the real Grimsokyo. Everyone are in kahoots with the toilet youkai that don't manifest themselves in modern restrooms.

People on the human village probably have the technology of the sengoku period, Edo at best.

Thought I remember seeing something somewhere in canon about the village having some plumbing infrastructure, or a comment about a shower offhand, so it's probable they have access to some extent. Classier youkai 100% have plumbing in their homes, I cant fathom a reality where Yukari doesn't have a bathroom fully stocked with modern soaps and amenities. Though, I can bet you they wont have western toilets in the village, you're at best getting those squatie potties the japs still use a lot.

Do I have meta knowledge? Even if I did, it'd be very hard to survive. I cannot communicate, I'm an outsider and Youkai might eat me. If I get randomly dropped I might not even find the village. I'll die from eating something poisonous (implying that I'll manage to make a fire and a shelter to drink safe water)

It's cases like this where you just kinda have to throw everything at the wall. Death is already on the table so what else to lose? You're either going out in a blaze of glory or you pique their interest and live another day. Highly dependent on who encounters you first and your strategy. Maybe you'll get lucky and someone knows english, there's quite a few who would know.

Gensokyo isn't as dangerous as it was in the far past.

I think it would be a lot better than this place. It's not like you're living in the stone ages. There's a lot of technology and knowledge from the Outside World and there's no reason you couldn't build upon it. Not to mention other parties with knowledge like Eiren or the Kappa. You could tinker on computers or go outside in nature.
There's no real danger of catastrophe. No matter what happens in the Outside World it will never touch Gensokyo.
Ironically Gensokyo feels a lot closer to the utopian idea of the fusion of technology and nature 20 years ago around the turn of the millenium.

The only problem is humanity. You would still be mortal and subject to disease and death and the elements. If you wanted to play it safe you would stay trapped in the human village.

I would probably end up throwing away my humanity in the end and become a youkai. Or something inhuman.
Even if it meant murder. I would be selective though. Because the first murder is feels like placing a bond between you and someone else. To have the cause of your freedom be some insect would be nasty.
That said taking the magician route like Alice or Marisa would be a better idea.

The human body is just a corpse anyway. What we really are is something else entirely. Why would you cling to your cage? Silly.
Anyways, Humanity as defined for thousands of years is soon to become a fiction here / the Outside World.

First thing I would do is find someplace nice to sleep. I would sleep for a long, long time. It would feel like dying. I would feel all the weight fall off me. All the weight they fit on you here.
I guess I would do anything after. It wouldn't really matter. Anything and everything would be possible. It would be like coming back to life after being dead for a long, long time.
