I still haven't fixed my ex cookie since reinstalling windows. Bleh. My brain is too simple when masturbating and AI does the job, but I do miss the stories.

I can't jo to AI anymore. It sucks. I have all these wild stories and adventures I want to embark on and express in my head. But then once I sit down and try to wrangle with the AI it just doesn't want to work. I know everyone loves to pretend it's the future and all but until they release wholly uncensored models that don't try to correct you when you enter a no-no path then it'll always be sub-par for everything.

I couldn't find a single good shota doujin on ex so I ended up weensperming to some animated loop on dan instead.

Oh, text AI? Yeah, the loops are total mood killers. I haven't used that in about 8 months, but towards the end I did find a lot of fun to build cards and lorebooks with SillyTavern to utilize percentage triggers. You basically need to put in a bunch of work and I can see people in the future doing this to make money. Imagine having a card and lorebook hidden to the users of a site so that they need to subscribe to use them. Yeah, there's money there.
No one that runs the AI sites actually has any passion when it comes to the material, though, that much is obvious. Just a gold rush to get SOMETHING out there no matter what the quality is.
Anyway, yes, I share your opinion of text AI. Image gen is good for a quick fap, though.

there's novelai which I've been a fan of and I recently found a trick that makes the AI follow generate story to a rough plot outline you set with minimal tard wrangling, but:
¥ monthly subscription
for me it wasn't so bad since I came off the coat tails of aidungeon when they had their tizzy about no-no content years ago, the format was what I'm used to, but I know local has come a long way since and paid online models, private and uncensored or not, lost a lot of value due to increasing efficiency with offline models.

I completely forgot about NovelAI. Did they ever release another model after, uhh.. whatever the one was with the the green outfit and beard?
I've been watching local AI stuff now and then and it seems like they're expecting some new models to come out soon, but the hardware requirements are quite steep if you want to generate at a decent speed.

NovelAI was good for me for... about a day. I experienced it once and enjoyed it back when it first came out and was 'novel' (get it), but after that I started to notice the cracks in their text models that would only be further confirmed as I moved on to Claude 2.0, then 3.0/GPT4. BUT, even then with those models I'd notice cracks and flaws too. Don't think there's anything really now aside from Claude Opus that has truly ever satisfied my lust for control and context over the stories I create, but that's probably also just bias as well since with the more complex these models get the better their safeguards do as well. So I've only ever had good experiences with the best Opus has to offer because before then I'm tardwrangling and trying to jailbreak the HELL out of it while it keeps roadblocking me at every single opportunity.

It's just not a fun experience when I know exactly how I want the story to go and yet the AI model is incapable of sensing my intention a fair bit of the time and deviates too far to let me have my fun properly.

They trained a Llama 3 70Beak model. It's a bitch to get working as default settings are ASS! But I've found a nice preset that works for me and some tricks to get it to do what I want. I am getting surprised by the AI, in a good way, which is good enough for me. Still no module training but I think that's dead and buried by this point. On their imagegen side of things they got V4 out which I think is an improvement over their previous, but still missing the vibe feature which acted like a Lora on the fly.
Depending on what you're after local models are probably what you want if you want full and total control and have the know how to do it.

As long as you found something you're happy with there's no issue.
